THE DRIVE UP...

As soon as you get off Route 34 (the Costanera) 300 meters south of the BM super Mercado in front of Mystic Sushi onto the dirt road, Calle La Union, it's a 5km straight ahead until you reach your destination. Remember, La Calle Union is a decent road, but it's a mountain road surrounded by jungle. Take your time, drive slowly, and savor the journey.

PLEASE - make sure to take the NORTH entrance of La Calle Union in front of Mystic Sushi. It may be slightly longer, but it offers an easier drive without the need for 4WD. The road is a well-maintained gravel road, most guests (over half) comfortably use a 2x4 vehicle. However, if you're not confident driving in mountain terrain or prefer extra assurance, a 4x4 is recommended.

There is ample parking space in the driveway of the house.

* Walking or hiking in the Ecological Reserve Oro Verde. A few kilometres before Uvita is a signed turnoff to the left. A rough dirt road (4WD only) leads 3.5km up the hill to this private reserve, where visitors can do a two- to three-hour guided birdwatching walk with a bilingual naturalist guide with birding equipment, followed by a Costa Rican breakfast.

* Envision Festival in March. One of the biggest music festival with a breaktaking setting between jungle and sea, immersive workshops, sacred spaces and diverse lineup artist.

* Civic Festivals Bahia Uvita in March. The largest festival in Costa Ballena with Rodeo, horse parade, concerts, car show and Miss and Mister Costa Ballena.
