Room, staff & food didn't go well.
Arrived, checked in all good.
Rang reception early enquiring how to place room service meal order and was told call reception when restaurant opens to place order thru reception.
Was firstly disappointed to find out there was no lunch service available - I'd been counting on it during heat.
Rang to order dinner & they said 'had to call reception to place my order'. ?????
I managed to get it placed.
My 'restaurant' burger costing $30+ arrived deconstructed in a cardboard takeaway box with bamboo cutlery.
The meat dry, partly raw inside & burnt black on one side - disguised by a business card size piece of thin dry bacon and a slice of some over 'grilled' cheese. I wish I'd taken a photo. I had planned to eat at least one dinner at the 'restaurant' but not after that meal. I wasn't feeling well and didn't have the energy to do more than eat what I could and fall into bed.
The mattress in the 4-star Room 52 needs replacing. It has sunk into 2 ruts! This is not 4 star.
Lastly, there was a problem with the bathroom floor.
It looked clean at first sight. But, after walking barefoot on it and then stepping into the bath/shower I was shocked. My feet left black marks!! For the rest of my stay I wore thongs indoors to keep my feet clean. I took a photo if u need to see for yourself.
I'm a 62 yr old long time resident of Ballarat. I have many professional friends and contacts. I cannot recommend this hotel.
