Located in an ideal neighborhood for bicycling, jogging or walking - approximately 5-10 min walk to the beach. Can walk to local restaurants and shops. South-facing sundeck provides views of the sound and excellent night time views of the stars. Three BR house sleeps 8 people with a Master (Q), guest (Q) and second guest room (1 bunk & 1 full). Master BR also has a full-sized crib with mattress. Full kitchen includes M/W, full-size refrigerator, toaster oven, coffee makers and dishwasher. Adjoining family room on the top floor has windows throughout and large sectional sofa to relax after the beach.

Cozy Avon Home

First of all, I don’t normally do reviews, but I definitely want to do a review on this house!!! If you are looking for a house that reminds you of your childhood about going to the beach and being in a comfortable cozy home, this is the house! It’s exactly what you think of when you think of going to OBX. What I loved about the listing is that it is exactly as pictured super cute and quaint, It has all of the amenities that you could need and it’s incredibly well equipped for family and friends. From the spacious open concept of the living area to the sizable bedrooms, and the amazing water pressure in the bathrooms this house exceeded all my expectations. The sun soaked back porch was perfect for watching the sunrise and set. Tons of windows kept the house flooded with sunlight all day long!! Huge outdoor shower was perfect for cleaning up and the covered parking left us plenty of room to spread out and provided lots of drying space. Amazing A/C and internet access was excellent! The home owner was prompt with getting a repair done when requested. Even checked on me after to make sure I was good to go!!! This house has everything you need for a wonderful vacation!! Can’t wait to come back!!!

Simple and perfect size

We enjoyed our stay at this house. I love how there was conveniently a crib in the master bedroom since we have an infant and a detachable bedrail in the upstairs kids bedroom (my son will only sleep if there is a guardrail.) This made night time transition very easy for us and stress free. If you do have younger kids, however, I advise you to bring many toys for them because the games at this house were for older kids so my son became bored very easily. The house was equipped with the dishes and silverware needed for the week. The house was mostly clean, despite a few spots here and there under the couches and chairs. Overall, a great experience and I would definitely consider staying at this rental property again.

Nice place, great location

We had 8 adults and 1 pup on this family vacation. The property was spacious & a good size for the 8 of us. The location was great, a short walk to the beach. a nice walkable neighborhood, and short walks or bike rides to restaurants, grocery store, & other stores. We liked the remoteness of Avon, away from the hustle and bustle of Nags Head & Kitty Hawk. It was quiet and serene. The communication from the owner was great, they'd sent a list of information a week and then a day or so prior to our arrival. They left a grocery store card to use, a permit for beach fire pits, & information on where to go and some good restaurants. We enjoyed our stay at this property. There were a few things that did bother us about our stay. First, we weren't aware that we needed to take bedding & towels until a week prior to our stay. It didn't state this in the basic information on the VRBO description. Given that we were traveling 11 1/2 & over 5 states, it was a hassle and we had to leave some things behind that we were going to bring such as boogie boards &beach chairs so we could fit bedding and towels into our vehicles. It would've been nice to know this when booking. The place was pretty clean, it was dust free, the hard floors. mattresses & bathrooms clean. The carpets could use a good scrub. Our feet were dirty from walking on the carpet. There were items under & between the couch sections. There were palmetto bugs & ants. Other than that, it was a good place to stay & I recommend it.

Excellent Rental Property

This was our 3rd time staying at this rental. The host is very responsive and very professional. The house is perfectly located in Avon, and is always clean and ready before check-in. My family and I, have really enjoyed our stay and look forward at the end of our day to have a nice place to return to. Highly recommended to everyone!

House was dirty carpet throughout was very soiled, couches were stained and smelled of dog pee , dishes were dirty some cups had candle wax in bottom’s, blood on blanket, trash under couches and in floors. Would never stay there again. Paid too much for the nasty conditions of home.

Just The Boys

Great house. I loved the private master suite. Very quiet neighborhood. Close enough to essential shopping, restaurants, and water access, but still peaceful and secluded. The only slight downside is no "neighborhood" sound access but overall everybody had a great time. I would definitely book the house again. J.

Great Location and House

We enjoyed staying here, and since we knew that it was going to be really hot, we brought fans to blow cold air up to the main floor of the house, which kept it much cooler. Dairy Queen is just a couple minute walk from the house which was very nice. The only negative thing was the mosquitos, it was bad once you go outside the house. Taking our dog out was another mosquito bite every time. We also had to deal with a cockroach issue, one was found crawling out of a kitchen drawer, and another was in the bathroom. I think if the house was sprayed outside for mosquitos and inside treated for other pests, it would be a great house for vacation.

Just what you need at a reasonable price.

This is a great little house at the top end of Avon. It is walking distance to the beach, a few shops, and a few places to eat, and is on a quite street. I let the owner know about a few things that need attention, but the bottom line is this house is affordable, and has everything you need for your stay at the beach. The beds are comfortable and the main part of the house functions well for a family of 6. We will probably look at it again.

Overall it was a nice stay and host was very helpful

The host is very helpful and communicative. I appreciated how quick he was to respond to me. We were happy with the house too and location. A couple of deck chairs needed replaced but I let him know and he put new ones in for the next set of guests. Even sent me a picture. Carpet is a little stained in hallway probably from sand but otherwise everything looked clean. I think most guests would enjoy their stay there. It's a nice set-up with the master on the first floor and two bedrooms on the second, plus the upstairs is nice and open.

Excellent Property and Location in Avon

This was our second time at staying at Mr. Hurst's property in Avon, and as usual it was great. The property is within walking distance to many restaurants, and tackle shops, plus the beach and sound side. Mr. Hurst was always open to answer our questions and his property was enjoyed by my entire family. He provided a clean living quarters, and all the necessary items for our stay. Having a washer/dryer, and a vacuum cleaner made life a lot easier for all, especially when it was time to leave. I would highly recommend this property to anyone, and our fishing family was very satisfied again this year. Thanks

Great get away

Great communication from owner. Place worked well for our family and house has a great layout. Short walk to the beach and coffee shop. Very enjoyable stay. Flooring is older but you are at the beach!

Centrally located

Had a very pleasant stay here and would absolutely recommend and stay here again. As a fisherman it worked out well for me as it’s an easy run to Hatteras and Oregon Inlet. I was able to get my boat and truck in the driveway. Convenient as it’s just a short run to the grocery store. It’s located in a nice quiet neighborhood as well. Sincerely Jim Robbins

Beautiful Living Space

My boyfriend, dog and I loved this house. Stephen was great and easy to reach, and the house was very comfortable and conveniently located. That said, it’s an old house and there were flies and a few other bugs around (we saw a hole in a window frame that could use repair). Hot water was finicky, and there was a sewage problem in the back that Stephen is in the process if fixing… We’re easygoing people so we still rate this place 5 stars for the beautiful open concept living area and deck, comfortable couch and beds, and proximity to the beach. Would love to stay here again once it gets a little fixing up.

Perfect for us

We had a great week, loved the house-it was perfect for our little fam & 2 dogs. It was clean and had a lot of open space. Host was very nice, helpful & quick to respond. Loved the location on a quiet street. Would stay again in the future.

bright, clean and comfortable, quick and clear communication with the host. bring your towels and bed sheets, those are not provided. front door could use a deadbolt, it's locked using only a privacy knob. Crime is probably low in that area, but a privacy knob can be unlocked without a key in about 2 seconds...
