A terrible and deeply disappointing stay at Residenza Gennaro. We felt misled by the description and the information provided by the owner. The advertised 12-minute walk to Amalfi harbour took us approximately 45 minutes, involving hundreds of steps. We counted around 600 steps just between the property and Hotel Santa Caterina, roughly halfway along our route to the harbour. The strenuous access, especially returning uphill, should be clearly explained before booking. There was no working internet during our stay. After speaking with guests staying in other properties, we discovered they had the same problems and had received similar misleading explanations from the owner. Based on these conversations and our own experience, we felt the owner had been dishonest with us about the internet. Only AFTER booking did the owner tell us our room had no kitchen facilities, not even glasses, plates, cutlery or pots. This should have been clearly disclosed before payment. We raised our concerns with Expedia, but its response and proposed compensation did not adequately address the issues. The house was not properly cleaned, the microwave, fridge etc was disgustingly dirty and all house was with a terrible mould smell. These problems disrupted our holiday and left us feeling deceived. I would not stay here again. Check the actual walking route, facilities and internet availability carefully before booking.

To reach this villa, take the bus to The Parrocchia Santa Maria Assunta Church on the Pergerola line, and walk down to the property. Pack lightly as there are many stairs to negotiate. The bed, shower, microwave, and fridge were in good shape. What is missing are cutlery and basics like dish cloths, cups, plates, and cutlery. A nice perk would be stocking olive oil and balsamic vinegar with a few buns. When you’re heading to the villa on the side of the mountain, you’re likely to want to bring a few groceries from Amalfi as there is nothing nearby.

La vue est très belle. Prendre l'autobus locale pour se rendre , sinon plusieurs marches à monter . Chambre très propre, calme avec terrasse.

Pleasant stay in Amalfi

it's a great place to stay, located over 500 steps up from the main street. You can get a bus to Via Papa Leone X from where you have only 115 steps down. It was a very easy check in, check out. The host was very responsive. We were very pleased to find few cornetti on the table. Microwave is available if you want to heat some food. Please remember the steps when planning your meals!

If you are an early morning person then it won’t be a problem. They started using heavy machinery to clean the property at 06:30 in the morning and we were not able sleep after that at it was very loud. Property itself is nice, you would need a bus to reach there. View from the property is amazing. Check in was flexible.

Great views of the coast. We were let off by a taxi i didnt check the parking. You have to walk down hill a ways to the property. We decided to walk into Amalfi thr next day instead of driving so just walked a mile down to the road and into town Very woodsy outdoors property which we loved

Spring break family trip to Amalfi coast. Be aware of the residenza location is down the hill about 4-5 floors from the main road level. Parking in Amalfi is critical, so be aware that if you rent a car will coast you $25 euros per night which is arranged by the Residenza. Ana is very kind and amazing helping you to set up in the room and giving you info where to visit around. She is lovely. A/c not cooling well enough. Be aware if you go in summer. Beautiful view from the terrace. Overall stay ok for the price.

Non rispondono al telefono né ai messaggi. Non ci sono trasporti che portano alla residenza. Alle 9pm ho cercato di chiamare dei taxi per andare a cena nessuno è voluto venire a prendermi perché dicevano che era troppo lontano. Sono dovuta rimare dentro fino al giorno dopo.

Absolutely beautiful place to stay in Amalfi. Full large room suite with kitchen, 1 double bed and 1 single bed. You can see all of Amalfi from the balcony. The recommendation to take the Amalfi-Pogerola bus and get off at the church Santa Maria assunta stop (Pastena) is the way to go. Just a short downhill walk to the apartment. If you Google maps it will recommend you get off on the highway and walk up which is uphill the entire way. We walked downhill twice to the Amalfi town center, just 20 minutes, very doable and great views throughout. Thank you very much Leonardo!

This place has an incredible view, so beautiful. It’s little hidden which we loved. You can take bus from downtown Amalfi which goes every 30 minutes until 11pm. You have to buy ticket downtown from the guy in yellow vest who is usually next to the buses, its 1.50 which is super affordable. Unfortunately you cant buy tickets in bus so I would suggest to buy couple of them right when you get to town. Leonardo was very helpful and texted me through WhatsApp how to get there and sent me picture of the bus stop. The bus stop is above the house, it takes 5 minutes to get tho the house through stairs. When we got there we were super hungry and Leonardo left us croissants, fresh lemons and tea and cofee which was very nice. You can also walk to the town which is incredible 25 minut walk with beautiful views. I would stayed there again for sure.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!! This was the WORST property I have EVER stayed at, nothing was working and EVERYTHING is VERY OLD (nothing has been updated for 40 years at this place). The stove, oven, washing machine and locks were all broken, it is NOT WORTH THE PRICE. I went to the bathroom and locked the door and it didn't open again. The lock was completely jammed because the key was a skeleton key from the 1960s. I got locked in the bathroom for over 1.5 hours and I called and messaged the Owner and he never responded. My mom had to call the neighbour to break down the door so that I could get out. On top of that, the Owner finally called 2.5 hours later and told me that I have to pay 100 Euros for the damage, or he would call the police. It is also impossible to find this place, there are NO SIGNS anywhere and it is not listed on Google maps. From Amalfi it was a 100 Euro cab ride for 1.9km uphill, but you can take the Cita bus to Pergerola for only 1.40 Euros, but it's impossible to know where to get off. We asked the driver and the locals and no one knew here to go. There are no instructions from the property on how to get there, and the Owner doesn't EVER respond to any messages (we called, emailed and messaged on Expedia and WhatsApp, but he never got back to us). When we finally found it (after walking 2km from Pergerola with our bags, there were 156 steep stairs to get to the place. My mom is 75 years old and couldn't carry her bags down and back up all the way.

Amalfi Horror

Owner was extremely unprofessional, we could not get in contact with him at all. We had to call Hotels.com so they can try to reach out and even then that didn’t work. Upon arriving our cab driver (who was familiar with the area) could not find this place. We ended up stranded on the side of a very dangerous road while we tried contacting the owner. I decided to venture out on my own and take about 8 flights of very rocky uneven stairs that were nowhere mentioned on the listing. By some miracle I arrived to the residence, luckily a lady cleaning the apartment was there. As much as we tried communicating with her it was very difficult as she did not speak English but apparently she was the one “in charge” of checking us in and wasn’t aware of our early arrival. She was trying her absolute best but the owner should have been taking care of this. This was a family trip so we had 6 people that had to come down those devil stairs with luggage, it was honestly at least a 20 minute ordeal, especially having to carry a 40+lb suitcase. If I had known about the exact location and the fact that we had to go up and down this many flights of stairs I would have stayed elsewhere. It’s a beautiful view but getting to the Amalfi square was very difficult as we had no direction from the owner. I’m very unhappy with this stay. *house is a few more flights of stairs below the church picture provided.
