When we arrived the doors to both bedrooms were closed. Upon opening the door into the main bedroom there was a disgusting very strong smell. It stayed for our entire 3 night stay but not as distinct as when I first opened the door. Other than that we had a lovely stay. Beds being an elderly couple we found not as comfortable as we would have liked but got better over the 3 night stay. First night woke all the time. Liked the open space & privacy. We were lucky enough to even have a reindeer come up to our kitchen window. First one we had seen. All in all lively stay. Tried to contact owners to find out what we needed to do with recycling but got no reply. No communication at all. So just left outside & put fresh bags in bins inside. Also left bedroom doors open. Abergavenny has very beautiful scenery.

Fantastic, we will be back asap.
Beautiful, clean home from home with stunning views and nature all around. Tucked away in a field that gave us the beautiful peace and tranquility we wanted but only a short drive from the lovely markets and shops of Abergavenny. We loved it and will be back. Thank you.

The whole weekend was amazing ,the weather was all over the place ,but the barn was like a home from home, ideal for sight seeing ,but if you want tranquility like we did .we will be back .

Wonderful peaceful location

Very Dog Friendly
This was our first time away with our 5 month old pup. Was very impressed with the place. So much ground for the dog to roam. Felt very relaxed. Daughter & hubbywho loved ve in Pontypool came over to visit us.Always love going to Wales. Did local walks. Will be visiting this place again.

A fantastic little gem!
The photos of this beautiful barn conversion just don't do it justice. It's modern, light and airy, with everything you could possibly need. Also spotlessly clean. It is quite literally in the middle of a huge field, perfect for children and dogs. It was so peaceful and I couldn't recommend it more highly. We will definitely be re-booking. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Luna's Retreat
Family trip for my husband and Luna (dog) birthday. Massive secure field for Luna to run around in and explore. Lots of dog friendly places. This is our third time here. It's so comfortable and warming its like being at home.

Nice basic home. Verry clean. All you need was there, accept something like a welcome book. A book, where you can find the most important things in the area (doctor, vet supermarket....) There you can also put stuff in as, where is the fuse box ore how does the shower works. The amount of towels was verry low for 2 weeks

Perfect little space for quiet getaway.
This property was so clean! Everything you need is provided with super soft towels and lovely fresh linen. The field is huge so loads of space for the kids and dog to run around in. Location is so quiet and peaceful with a short drive to Abervagenny. Loved it and would definitely stay again.

A wonderful barn, we felt at home there. This was our second stay. A great experience. Beautiful surroundings . Abergavenny wonderful town. We recommend visiting the castle, grabbing some loot at the charity shops and listening to the street musician Woodsmoke. The owner of a barna great person, very helpful and kind.

This was our dog’s first family holiday. The property was perfect for us all. 2 x adults, 2 x teens & 1 x dog. Comfortable, well equipped and great space for the dog to run around and explore. We would go back. Definitely recommend.

Great Escape

For the money... Disappointing.
The cottage itself was in reasonable condition and very clean but was clearly beginning to show some wear and tear. However it was comfortable and nicely situated in a peaceful setting. Kitchen utensils could have been better and more floor coverings would have been nice. A cheap toilet seat had been badly fitted. There was no welcome folder outlining information for, or expectations of the hirer. Very little information on surrounding amenities etc. Nice furniture and comfortable beds. Outside fell short of expectations. The low walling surrounding the patio area at the front was disintegrating and the coping stones were loose or missing. Dangerous for kids. It was easy to miss your footing on the step outside the front door when exiting. The walk way immediately surrounding the cottage was uneven and dangerous. The long grass around the cottage had not been cut and it was difficult to get to the clothes line. Parking was more than adequate but again the surface was loose and uneven. There was some seating provided on the patio area but we couldn't locate any specific cushions etc. for use there. Waste and recycling bins were also left lying about on the patio area all in all rendering it not a pleasant place to spend time. Sad, as the surrounding views were lovely. Some care and attention, some general maintenance and the addition of some planting and landscaping in the immediate vicinity of the cottage (not even any container plating as shown on the website was in evidence) would go a long way to improving the visitor experience.

Lovely barn conversion - perfect for family with dog
First time we booked with vrbo and our dog did not get booked in after all, so when I messaged the owner mentioning the dog she acted swiftly adding him to the booking so everything was set straight. Communication was very good in general. The barn is situated in a large garden/field which is completely fenced in so great for our dog and kids to have a good run. There is a public footpath through the fields right next door and another not much further away as well that gives plenty of hiking opportunities. we came to see the Big Pit which is just 20 minutes away and the show caves which are an hour drive. the surrounding area is also very lovely to explore but we only had 3 days essentially. The barn is entered right into the living area which has a big couch, an electric oven/fire and coat rack. There are even some games for the kids. Kitchen is well equipped with everything you need including washing machine, dishwasher and microwave. Bathroom has an over bath shower and lovely towel radiator. Soap and hand sanitizer were provided (we brought our own as well as I did not see it mentioned). 1 double and one twin bedroom were perfect for us and the 2 kids. both have a large wardrobe and chest of drawers, so plenty of space to hang and store clothes. Beds were comfy with enough pillows to choose from. Heating worked perfectly - we had quite some grim weather :-) I would definitely recommend this one as a base for exploring the area!

Relaxing and peaceful break
The property is situated in the middle of the countryside with the Welsh hills surrounding it. So scenic. It was lovely inside with everything you could possibly need. The facilities was great. Beds comfortable, kitchen well equipped and nice and warm. We had our dog with us and he loved running in the field. It was was great to be in such a dog friendly property. I would highly recommend this property.

Wonderful place to stay!
My wife and I and our small dog stayed here for the week and had a wonderful time. The house is in a beautiful quiet field, overlooking a sweet chapel and fabulous countryside. Close to Abergavenny and striking distance to amazing sightseeing and hiking. The house was super clean and comfortable and has absolutely everything you could need, including fantastic stargazing on clear nights. Will definitely come back.

What a lovely barn! Pretty, Clean, Quiet, good space and close to town center. The barn is there on its own on a huge space. It was so quiet at night with full of stars in the dark sky and beautiful atmosphere in the morning. It was amazing experience staying there! We want to come back again.

Fabulous Rural Break
We absolutely loved our break at Y Stablau. The cottage was perfect for us and our two kids aged 1 & 5 and had everything we needed for a week long holiday. Although it appears quite small from the outside, there is bags of space inside with a decent sized living area, 2 good size bedrooms, bathroom with bath & shower and a kitchen with handy features such as a washing machine and dishwasher. The selling point for us was the location. The cottage is in a tiny hamlet, set back from the 'main' road in a field with masses of space for the kids to run around and play football. There is a table and chairs outside so when the weather is fine, al fresco dining is recommended as there are stunning views to be had. Abergavenny is 5 miles up the road and there is a wide range of shops, pubs & restaurants to be enjoyed here. You also have the Brecon Beacons National Park nearby which is stunning and if you have kids, we recommend visits to the National Showcaves of Wales and Cantref Adventure Farm. A little further afield we went to Techniquest in Cardiff Bay and then spent the afternoon by the sea in Barry Island. All in all, we had an amazing holiday and would highly recommend a stay at Y Stablau. We look forward to returning one day.

Absolutely lovely property. Immaculate throughout. Our Dog really enjoyed the freedom of the enclosed extensive fields/Garden. Extremely peaceful and we all had an excellent few days. Property is quite remote so we were glad we had brought provisions with us, however Abergavenny was only 5 miles away.

Peace and Tranquillity in Llanvetherine
We booked this cottage to help our son settle into his job (in a new country). Location is amazing both in terms of sorroundings but also because of its easy access to motorways and proximity to Abergavenny. Driving to Newport and Cardiff for official errands was easy despite maintaining a base in the beautiful Welsh countryside. We would highly recommend the place.

Lovely.
Perfect for our short stay. Actually in a better location than I thought as is in Caggle Street near Llanvetherine and not in Grosmont (the latter is further away from attractions for young children). It’s in a large field full of flowers. The sat nav postcode doesn’t take you right to the property, but if you drive along the main road nearby you will see the barn like building in a field set back from the road. Next door is a small chapel.

This cottage is much nicer than the photos indicate. Everything felt clean and safe with immaculate good quality wood furniture in a lovely quiet location. The Wifi had to be purchased separately and was a bit dodgy at times which was our only real concern as phone signals didnt work inside. Walking up the hill behind was our only way to get a signal. Otherwise a very good place in a beautiful area., could recommend.

A lovely cottage which is nice and quiet with beautiful surroundings and nicely decorated with everything you need. A short drive takes you to shops and places to eat which is handy And bike park wales and black mountain are just 30 minutes away . Will be using again for sure.
