The guest arrived to the house and immediately complained that there was an ant bed in the front yard. Leaves had blown on the patio. The towels weren’t thick enough in the guest bath but were ok in the master bath. It had been raining almost daily before their arrival so leaves were on the ground and blown on the patio. The towels were the same in both bathrooms so I was confused as to how they were thicker in one washroom. They also stated there was some dust on the mantle. I attempted to work with the guest but was not able to satisfy they. They initially stated they wanted a partial refund multiple times and stressed the house was unlivable. They were very rude. I offered them a refund to find other accommodation due to their own words and rudeness. They were not thrown out of the house. I was willing to allow them to stay a night in order for them to make other plans but they said they needed only a few hours and was waiting for the their son, daughter in law and grand kids flight to arrive. When they called back they stated they made other arrangements and was leaving to meet up with their family. I was wasn’t expecting the call so soon. Initially it sounded like they just wanted to recoup some of their money but went to the extreme and threatened to give me a bad review and take legal action. This prompted me to speak with my legal counsel I was advised to offer them a full refund so they could seek other accommodations. I have had many guest stay in the house and never experienced this before. I hope they enjoyed the rest of their trip even though it started off a bit rocky.
