Well, this place is not for everyone. It’s in a great location with Lake Superior view, and is an expansive inn built in 1937 with a fascinating history (lodging for paper mill workers, teachers, and POW camp supervisors; community meeting space). Donny the gracious host is full of stories and good suggestions for nearby eateries. He and his wife began renovating this big building a few years ago after it had been vacant for a few years. It was interesting to explore the large dining halls and other rooms, frozen in time from the 1950s. There is still a lot of work to do to bring this grand old building up to the clean and tidy appearance that most travelers appreciate. The old beds were not at all comfortable and we didn’t sleep well, and we skipped the continental breakfast for better options nearby.

This is a treat you don't want to miss if you're in the area! So much history and decorated in such a fun way. Don't forget to check out the quilt museum in the basement. Absolutely perfect!

We really enjoyed our stay at Red Rock Inn and will definitely come back! The hospitality from the owner was incredible, sharing fun stories about the town and adding to the interesting 1950s decor of the place! I personally loved the vibe of the place and t old books in the room, which I waited no time to start reading. Overall, the whole experience was amazing! Thank you so much

It was an unexpected surprise to find this gem. The host, Don, was very friendly and showed us around this beautiful property. There was a lot of histories to it. Loved staying here, and definitely will come back 👍

A very quaint old school Inn. Clean quaint and welcoming. A welcome respite from the typical roadside motel. Sooo much character- a great stop. I highly recommend it.

I was passing through with work and booked this as I wanted a quiet place to stay. Well staying here was more of an experience then just a place to sleep. Tons of character , ran by an elderly man named Donny. He will keep you entertained while sharing the unique and exciting history of this area. I stayed in 7 hotels on this trip and this was by far the most unique experience. Beds were clean and comfortable, bathroom was clean. Worth checking out.

What we liked: the history of the inn, the historical artifacts and the knowledge of its history imparted by our host, Don. This property provides more than just a room. It is a very large building which houses extras for the visitors ... a lovely sun room on the second floor, a large breakfast room on the main floor as well as a very large games room in the lower floor with darts, pool tables, ping pong table, fuze ball to name a few. Something to keep in mind when visiting this inn... it is very old, therefore it has a different kind of charm than a state of the art accommodation. We loved it and will come back!! Thank you Don!

This “guest” was NOT a guest !!! Did not stay at the inn.., rather did a late booking … the stated requirement on our page states clearly that bookings after 8pm must be confirmed by phone.., he did not. I called just before midnight and he was still hours away.., I canceled his booking with NO cancellation fee or no show fee.

The Red Rock Inn is an older property - but the location is amazing - on the waterfront - and the owner is so helpful and friendly. The breakfast is really good - fresh coffee in the morning. I would stay here again for next year's Nipigon Ice Fest!

This guest that was supposed to advise arrival time before six did not. Was called twice that went to voice mail … showed up after 11 m when front desk was closed for hours. The terms are well spelled out on our Expedia site. We could have cancelled the booking.

Such a nice place to stay! We really enjoyed the warming welcome, the clean bedroom, the rock'n roll concert (every saturday night!) and lots of fun in the playroom (pingpong, darts, pool tables,...). We definitely recommend!

Wouldn't stay there again.
Older place. No tv in room but can watch tv in game room with other guests. Not much of a breakfast. Cereal and homemade breads. No restaurant opened in town.

A unique experience! The location was beautiful with a view of lake superior, islands and mountains. The resort building is a living museum filled with interesting art & memorbilia. The very welcoming owner encourages guests to use the downstairs commom areas, including the kitchen, for entertainment. If you're looking for a sterile cookie cutter experience this isn't it. We'll be back.

This property has not had a face lift in a while, but what it lacks in modern amenities, it makes up for in character. The staff are great and the history of the building is amazing. If the beds were more comfortable I would have maybe consider 5 stars as we had a lot of fun and enjoyed the uniqueness.

We had a wonderful and one-of-a-kind weekend stay at the Red Rock Inn, after making a spontaneous decision to journey north to explore the Nipigon area. The inn, like the owner and staff, express a personable and authentic character that aren’t run-of-the-mill in our hospitality experiences. We loved seeing the quirky decorations and humorous touches, hearing the stories shared by owner, Don, and receiving the kindness and generous consideration of the entire staff while there. We were lucky enough to be there for Saturday’s evening of live music, where the “The Inn-Mates” played oldies rock and roll to be enjoyed by a gathering of community members and guests. Beautiful views of the Nipigon Bay are out the front, and the short but steep hike up the Red Rock Mountain behind the inn provides striking views of the entire area. If you’re looking for cookie-cutter and impersonal, this won’t be your spot. We’re so thankful we were able to come stay here, and to have the memories to take along with us!
