Amazing weekend
Much needed weekend out of the city and by the lake.. Owner was very responsive and nice.. great views of the water and had some fun on the kayaks. Will definitely be bringing the family back!

Cottage on the Lake
This was our second stay at the Cottage and it has easily become our favorite place to stay!!! Tom and Katherine are the most gracious and kind hosts we have encountered through VRBO. The cottage is 2 bedrooms with a loft and fits our family of 4 perfectly. The kitchen is little, but has all you need to make a meal. The views from the patio are stunning! We had a few little showers and were able to just sit on the patio and enjoy the sounds of nature and look out on the lake. (The only minor thing that might be a negative for some is there is no WiFi or TV. We however didn’t have any issue with that, but it’s worth noting for others.) If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway at the lake, this is the place for you! We will be back soon!

Amazing Wedding Venue
Tom and Katherine are so accommodating they made our intimate family wedding a success! They have everything you need from tables, chairs, decorations and their daughter makes the most beautiful cakes. Highly recommend and will be back to enjoy the lake soon!

Peaceful
Stayed here with my mom and 2 kids (9 & 6). We had a wonderful time. Kids loved the swings. I loved sitting on the porch in the morning before it got too hot listening to all the birds and trees in the breeze.. The view is so peaceful. Hosts are very nice and helpful. My kids kept saying we need to come back with Dad.

Friends fishing trip
I met an old friend from Shreveport there for two days of fishing and relaxation. Tom and Katherine, the owners were super nice and accommodating. The cabin was really nice, the A/C was cold and the place was spotless. The grounds were manicured as well. We’ll be back.

Great stay during work trip
We were working in the area and wanted something nicer than a roadside motel. Tom and Katherine were fantastic hosts, and the space is absolutely gorgeous and immaculately maintained. Mary's cinnamon rolls were delicious and a really nice extra touch

Perfect little cottage on the lake!
We had a wonderful stay at Tom and Katherine’s cottage. The scenery alone was worth the stay. We had everything we needed for our short little trip and Tom and Katherine were incredibly gracious hosts. The property is situated right by the lake and you have a wrap around porch to enjoy the view. We didn’t catch any fish, but we did try! There’s lots of room to fish, swim or kayak. I highly recommend staying here!! I know we will be back. A few things to note if staying here: -On your way in to the property you will drive through a neighborhood that is a little unsightly, but it is not indicative of the cottages or their location. -This is a true cottage, with a small kitchen. If you’re wanting a big kitchen or large bedrooms this may not be your spot. The dining table is very large though which was great for us. -There are no TVs or WiFi. Our kids didn’t love that, but us adults didn’t mind the break. -All of the beds are a little small. It worked perfectly for our groups needs, but if you’re planning to share beds they will likely not be big enough. - I recommend bringing water shoes if you plan to get in the water. It is a little marshy and rocky.

Great Stay and Perfect Location
My dad and I stayed here on a fishing trip and it was perfect. Location was close enough to pretty much any boat ramp with two of them being less than 5 minutes away. There is ample place to park truck and boat and an outside outlet to charge your batteries at night. Cottage was as described and extremely clean. Tom stayed in touch days leading up to the trip and even turned the lights on inside snd out for our late evening arrival. Will for sure stay again next trip.

Awesome views and clean property.
The Huguenot Cottage, was very clean and a fresh smell welcomed us when we walked in. The cottage was well appointed and very nicely maintained. The owners were very welcoming and checked on us to ensure we are comfortable. The views from the cottage of the lake was mesmerizing. We will definitely go back again whenever a similar opportunity happens.

Another beautiful weekend with beautiful views
This time we rented all three houses on the property. The property is so clean you won’t believe it. It’s right on Lake of the Pines. We had everything we needed and more. There is a flat bottom boat, canoe or kayak to use at the waters edge. Tom and Katherine are available if you need anything. We fished off the bank. Serene and comfortable. We will definitely be back!

Just what we needed
This was everything we were looking for in a mini vacay! The hosts were fantastic. The cottage was so clean and organized! If we didn’t have it, the host was more than willing to loan it (thanks for the s’mores skewers!). It was a great locomotion close to Daingerfield state park. The property itself had so much to keep our boys occupied. And bird watching early in the morning on the back porch was just the relaxing experience we needed! We will definitely be back!!

Family getaway
The cottages were extremely clean, beautifully decorated yet comfortable, and the lake view is amazing. The property is very well kept. Enjoyed having access to the canoe and row boat without extra cost. The owners of the property are on site and were very good about checking in on us during our stay to see if we needed anything. Really enjoyed meeting them .Highly recommend ordering baked goods from Mary, they were delicious. My family and I really enjoyed our visit and would definitely stay again if traveling to this area. One thing to note, the neighborhood you have to drive through to get to the property is rural and somewhat unkempt, but you will be pleasantly surprised with the beauty of the property and cottages when you arrive.

Huguenot Cottage
We were very pleased with the cottage...large enough for 6 adults & 2 kiddos! The property was absolutely beautiful & well maintained and having the a few water toys available for the whole family was a plus. We loved the fact that there is no internet, so it was quality time with the family. The owners are on site if you need them and Tom was very helpful and accommodating. We have a wonderful time and we will be booking there again! Holly Marrs-Bruce

Rest and relaxation
We stayed here for two nights as a rest from a long road trip. The cottage was beautiful and the view from the cottage was too. We enjoyed reading, fishing, walking the property and nearby mountain bike trails. Tom and Katherine were so kind and accommodating. So glad the last two days of our family vacay were spent here!

Canoeing and kayaking fun!
The property was well maintained, clean, and comfortable. The hosts were awesome (kind, friendly, and responsive). My 9 and 10 year old loved the tree swings and seeing the host's donkey and horse! Everyone loved paddling around the huge protected cove of the lake. The woodpeckers and turles were amazing.

Great Weekend Getaway
The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. 6 people stayed comfortably for 3 nights, and we had no issues. The view from the back porch is great. Tom even had a canoe, kayak, and Jon boat that we paddled out into the lake in the afternoons. Him and Katherine both were very nice and accommodating. Everyone agreed that we would come back again.

Even though it rained pretty much the entire time this place is PERFECT! Clean, right on the water and cozy. During our stay the electricity went out and Tom was right on it. Texted us within 5 mins. I will be back for sure! Beautiful place.

Would absolutely come back and maybe stay longer. So peaceful
We stayed in the bigger cabin, it was perfect for our family of 7. It could have slept more, there was plenty of room. The kitchen table was huge and we were able all sit around, play games and still had room for others to join. The full-size kitchen had all the appliances and utensils we needed. There was plenty of firewood for the fire pit. Our 15 month old granddaughter loved running all over and we were far enough from the beautiful view of the water to not have to worry. Our kids took the complimentary canoe and kayak out a couple of times (they also provided the lifejackets). We loved going to see the horse, donkey, dogs and cats multiple times a day. Tom, Katherine and Mary could not have been anymore pleasant or welcoming. Thank you for making our family Easter perfect.

Visitors from the Pacific Northwest
This property was beautiful, clean, and the views of the lake were amazing. The hosts were so attentive to making sure we had what we needed and even brought a hairdryer to the cabin when my friend inquired about one. The location was quiet and peaceful and a wonderful escape after our long days away. I hope to return to fully enjoy all the property offers when I am not busy with business activities.

Quaint little cabins overlooking lake
The cabin was very very very nice. One small thing to point out that I do not recall the listing saying is that the stairs getting to the beds on the 2nd floor are more like bunk bed stairs and would not suggest for people with back or knee problems. However once you get up there the beds are very cozy and comfortable. There is a very nice view of Lake of the Pines. The neighborhood driving in however is very trashy and does not fit with the property that the cabins are on. Tom and Kathrine have a very nice and clean property and it is a shame that you have to drive through a sketchy neighborhood to get there.

Beautiful Property
The property was beautiful and the house was perfect and fit our needs to a tee. Watching the sunrise over the lake while drinking a cup of coffee was an ideal way to disconnect. The hosts were fantastic and friendly folks. I would definitely stay again the next time we take a trip to Barnwell!

We had a wonderful time. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. The grounds weee so so nice. We’d love to come back. A few of pie observations: no salt and pepper/spices/oils. There was hand soap, dish soap and bar soap. A few trash bags also. Pretty basic cooking utensils but adequate. Lots of fire wood and seating on the porch. Bring your camp chairs! They had bbq utensils also. They have both sorts of coffee pots. We arrived to a Kuerig but she quickly swapped us.

Great Weekend getaway
Camp Joy cabins was a awesome location and as advertised beautifully located on the shores of Lake O the Pines. Property owners have put in a tremendous amount of hard work and it shows. Cabin was very clean, spacious , and comfy. Only thing I would do differently would have been to bring mine and my oldest sons fishing kayaks. Both times we tried to use either the canoe or small Johnboat on the property they were in use by the family renting the cabin adjacent to ours. Still, we had an enjoyable time fishing from the banks at different locations around the lake and just roaming around the property.

CLEAN, CLEAN and perfect!
We rented 2 cottages and absolutely loved them. The view of Lake of the Pines was wonderful! We used the flat bottom boat that’s available at the waters edge along with life jackets. My granddaughter caught a tiny fish and hasn’t stopped talking about it. The linens were very nice and the cottage is not only decorated well but well stocked. We didn’t use the grills but will next time! The owners were very polite and available if we needed them. I can’t say enough. We will return!

Amazing girl's weekend
I did not realize when I rented the house that it had no TV but it turned out to be an even better trip without it. We played board games all weekend and now we have found a new family game. The house was adorable. Very clean! The property was beautiful. Greatly enjoyed the whole weekend and will definitely recommend and be back.

We had a wonderful time. Property just as described. We were able to launch our boat at nearby ramp then tie up on shore at property. Summer fishing tough on this part of lake but almost felt like we had the lake to ourselves. We will be back in fall or spring!

Peaceful Getaway
If you are looking for a place to detach and just relax - this is the place!!! The girls loved waking up and going to visit the horse and donkey every morning and played on the tree swings several times a day. I loved being able to close off the locked porch and drink some coffee as they ran around playing. My husband fished off the bank didn't catch anything but enjoyed just being out there! We drove about 15 minutes down the road to a lake "beach" to swim. Warning though, Tmobile didn't work out there for us. Oh and we saw lots of bunnies and turtles in the yard. Great stay.

Exceptional Hospitality in a Beautiful Setting!
Can't say enough good things about this property and the owners. The cabin was spotless and well furnished. The grounds were beautiful, with lakefront access. We used the rowboat and headed out at dawn to watch the sunrise. Quiet, serene and lovely.... and that applies to our entire stay! Tom, Kathryn, and Mary were the definition of warm hospitality. We will definitely go back.

Peace on Earth
If your looking for a quiet peaceful setting, with no internet or tv this is the place! My family and I stayed over Memorial weekend (2020), it was just what we needed. The owners are a wonderful couple, eager to make your stay a great experience. Definitely recommend.

Great get away!
Such a wonderful place to get away from it all. Wonderful cottages! We stayed in Hugenot which was perfect for our two families. The kids loved the loft! We had such a great time canoeing kayaking, s’mores over the fire pit and fishing. It is a beautiful, quiet spot on Lake ’O the Pines. We look forward to coming again.

Great stay in beautiful cabin!
Our stay in Ore City exceeded our expectations! The property was beautiful as was the cabin. Perfect spot for a small family get together. Enjoyed disconnecting, no tv so we spent our time outside walking the grounds, playing board games, and making s'mores around a fire. Our host was very kind as well, made sure we had everything we needed. Really lovely cabin.

Charming Cottage
The cottage was cozy and peaceful- perfect for Christmas. Tom and Katherine were very friendly and accommodating. They even had a beautiful Christmas tree set up for us when we arrived!
