We had a very nice stay in Tristan's condo in mid-November. The condo is very nicely appointed, the kitchen is small but well stocked, and Tristan is very quick to respond to any issues or problems that may arise.
Positives to the location - it's conveniently located really close to a great coffee shop that sells delicious chocolate croissants, and its proximity to the dock where many of the charter boats now come to pick people up for Sting Ray City and snorkel tours (try White Sand Charters - great tour guide, much smaller tour groups and less expensive than most others on the island) is fantastic!
We appreciated the beach chairs and kayak provided, and it was wonderful being able to have breakfasts out near the pool. We did pay to have the pool heated throughout our visit, but not sure we'd do that again as it only made a big difference a couple of nights when we didn't have a lot of sun during the day.
Lots of towels, toiletries, and paper goods provided and it was very handy having the washer and dryer in the condo!
I will say that I do agree with some of the other reviews regarding the water. It is very weedy and because you're in the equivalent of a bay, you don't get the sound of the waves lapping on the shore. It feels a bit more like being at a cabin on a lake than a house on the beach. If you're looking for a sandy beach that stretches for miles with lapping ocean waves, this may not be the best fit. On the plus side, the water was crystal clear and made spotting starfish (of which there are more right out front of the condo than at Starfish Bay down the way) really easy.
The location is a bit removed from things overall which may not appeal to everyone. There are just one or two restaurants within a five mile radius, so make sure you have a car if you want some variety. Our biggest disappointment was finding Rum Point was closed. There were a couple restaurants there that would have addressed the restaurant shortage had they been open, but all the retail venues are closed there and the once beautiful and busy beach is loaded with huge piles of construction dirt/sand. The locals have no estimate on when things might open back up and don't have a consistent answer for what's actually happening with the place. I wish we'd known before we got there as it was one of our favorite places to hang out.
All in all, a nice time in a nice condo. Thanks Tristan for having us and being such a gracious host!
