I regret that you did not have a completely enjoyable experience. However, what this review omits is that these guests booked the least expensive, smallest room on the property AT A DISCOUNT. The breakfast, each morning included: coffee, oj, muffins/coffee cake/pumpkin bread, fresh mixed fruit, a selection of yogurts, waffles/French toast, real maple syrup, and eggs. I was asked for the recipe for the egg dishes so most people must have liked them. With respect to the tv, we have learned that most travelers now travel with iPads or similar devices on which they have their Netflix, Hulu, HBO-Max etc and all they want is wifi, which we have. Many folks ask about the history of the B&B and so we respond that we have owned it for 22 years and no doubt wistfully remark that we may own it for only another 2 weeks. At the same time as these guests stayed with us, we had guests who have stayed with us for over 17 years and new folks who thanked us for introducing them to the Upper Valley, so we must have done something right.

Sorry that you were disappointed with your room but this is a surprise to us and the certainly the first we are hearing of it. Normally, if a guest stays for two days and is discomforted by something, they say something so we can address it in real time. There were other rooms that you could have been switched to if we knew that this room did not suit you. Also, please note that you booked one of only two dog-friendly rooms, which are so-designated because of their location on the lower level at ground level. Wish you had mentioned the drain stopper. Indeed, wished you had mentioned that you were uncomfortable with the shower set-up because we have privacy screens available for those who would like them! Every time we interacted, you indicated that everything was fine and expressed your pleasure with the home-cooked breakfasts and the free dock, fishing (and also free canoes and kayaks available) and the bass you caught. Glad you enjoyed the river fishing!

Thanks for your comments. Just a couple of matters of perspective ... This guest booked the least expensive room on the property. Although we normally have provided an expansive buffet for breakfast, we cannot do so within the Covid-19 restrictions placed on us, including that everything has to be take-away and disposable. So, instead, guests fill out a menu the night before of take-away items. You elected only cold items, bypassing the two hot egg options (including a quiche). Incidentally, the same night you stayed, we received a very positive set of high praise feedback from guests who stayed in a larger room and were understanding of the Covid restrictions. We realize that Covid-19 restrictions take a toll on us all, but we need to prefer safety over, say, an impermissible and extravagant buffet. We look forward to the time when we can once again offer our expansive buffet, safely!

We are glad you like everything that we provided! As you know, we are in the country sitting on 23 acres above the river. Our neighbor to the south naturally fertilizes twice a year so he can farm organically. Rarely an issue, but in any case the a/c takes care of the issue.

Being in the country, off the beaten path, means that there are some limitations, such as what is available on tv, but we would have been happy to tune to different stations if you had requested. This reviewers beef is with Expedia, not us. She never stayed with us. She made a reservation with us for one of our busiest weekends. She then contacted Expedia, not us, in an effort to cancel her reservation without penalty because of "a death in the family." Expedia contacted us by phone and requested that we cancel the reservation without penalty, which we did. We asked Expedia directly on the phone whether we were to consider the reservation canceled. They said yes. We then posted the room as available and it was quickly re-booked by another guest. Despite all this, the guest showed up and asked for her room, but we were completely full. She had no explanation for why she appeared after she had canceled her reservation. If she has a complaint, it is with Expedia since all we did was accommodate a request to cancel her reservation and follow Expedia's directive.
