Beautiful location for a weekend away
Just got back from a lovely weekend at the property. The location is fantastic with beautiful scenery and a river adjacent to the property which was great for swimming. Loved the use of the hot tub, campfire area and the kitchen was well equipped. Overall we felt the barn could have been cleaner with some stains on the sofas, quite a bit of dog hair on the rug and just generally in need a bit of a clean and a lick of paint. BBQ was a bit unstable which could be dangerous with little ones around and mirroring previous reviews the option of a fire guard would have been handy. These were however minor problems and our experience was mainly positive and we would return. Communication with the owner was very good.

A very beautiful location, with plenty of space.
The house and land were spacious and beautiful. Plenty of useful items including dishwasher tablets, toilet rolls etc. Instructions to get there were spot on. The whole kitchen was very well equipped. As a family we agreed there could be more improvements. The shower is very small, no locks on the upstairs bedroom doors, some equipment broke when we went to use it and some mattresses were stained. There's very little space to put toiletries in bathroom and no hanging space in the bunk bed bedroom- again, nowhere to put a drink or tissues etc. If taking very young children, be aware, the floor is stone! The reason we booked this property was because of the hot tub. However, the day after we arrived we went to use it and the chlorine level was very high. We couldn't use it until mid afternoon on our last day. However, when we contacted the owners, they suggested things to try and responded very promptly. We wanted a quiet and relaxing holiday and that's what we got.

Great weekend stay at Abernant Barn
What a great time we had! Abernant Barn is set in beautiful surroundings with a lovely relaxing atmosphere. The barn is spacious and has all that you need inclusive of a hot tub overlooking the river nearby. Plenty of outdoor walks were had where we discovered the local pub! Will definitely be back. Thanks for a fab weekend

Ok but improvements needed.
Overall the location of property and property itself was great, however the cleanliness left alot to be desired. Cleanliness could be greatly improved.

Absolutely perfect family Christmas!
Beautiful location for a memorable family Christmas! Loved the space and the special features, real Christmas tree, log burning stove and sheltered hot tub made for a fantastic few days. Hosts were helpful and responded quickly to our queries. The dog had freedom and space to roam and we even managed a little fire at the fire pit between rain showers. Beds were comfortable and cooking Christmas dinner wasn’t too bad at all despite being in a strange kitchen. Overall we had the best time and will return. My children never wanted to go home!

Beautiful Barn!

Very tranquil and relaxing
Lovely accommodation in peaceful and beautiful setting. Excellent facilities in general. Lack of any wood for log burner was very disappointing as underfloor heating offered little comfort. So recommend taking your own wood if you book this in colder weather x

Hi Helen, we used to supply unlimited wood to guests but found that they were burning it on bonfires outside as well so have to limit it now. Wood is available from the local village .

Fabulous location
Fabulous escape, house is gorgeous and hot tub perfect. It would have been handy to have some tea and coffee and some washing up liquid and sponge or cloth, maybe something to add.

If you're looking for Rest and Relaxation this is the place. We cannot fault our stay in any way.
Beautiful surroundings and wonderful exploring with the kids aged 4 and 7. Bernie was very helpful when needed. We loved it so much that we hoping to buy a property in this area!!

Almost there!
We had a great stay at the property celebrating a birthday. The location was perfect as it was very secluded and quiet. Unfortunately, the shower didn’t work whatsoever and so had to use the bath which was pretty inconvenient; it would have been worse if we were staying for longer than two nights. Overall, it was a great stay and I would definitely go back providing the shower was fixed. Thank you!

Peaceful location, property needs some attention.
The location is quiet and picturesque. The overall layout and design of the property is good. There were however a number of small points which detracted from the positive points; 1. The log burner chimney does not comply with building regulations: it is within 2.3 m of a Velux window but does not extend 1 m above the top of the opening, as required by Document J. Consequently, smoke was blown into the children's bedroom. 2. Ripped bin bag containing old bits of roofing chrysotile asbestos present adjacent wood store and accessible by children. 3. Bedroom doors had no door handles or locks. 4. Property described as child friendly but no fireguard for log burner or stair gates to stop toddler climbing the stairs every three minutes or falling down them from the landing. 5. No way to dry clothes: without lighting log burner. The absence of a tumble dryer and the presence of underfloor heating (ground source heat pump, which was very cool) meant we had no way to effectively dry wet clothes. 6. All knives in kitchen were blunt. No bread knife. 7. Chest of drawers in children's room repaired with incorrect length screws leaving razor sharp point inside drawer. 8. Not enough storage in bedrooms for one week stay. Aside from these points, which are remedied quickly (apart from the chimney), the venue is quite spacious and pleasant.

Hi Sarah, I’m glad you enjoyed your stay and we always welcome feedback for improvement. I will correct you on 1 point though, the building is fully compliant with building standards , our certificate reference is ECR/FP/2009/1182/ With 24x7 underfloor heating throughout it is obviously at your discretion as to whether to use the log burner or not and most guests find the clothes dryer in the heated utility room adequate. If you have small children then we suggest refraining . Also for info we do not provide free logs as a fair use policy was not working and so the wood store marked private is not for guests use. Logs can be purchased on arrival from either local garage or there is a farm number at the entrance gate where they will deliver . Regards Bernard & Jane

Brilliant place 10/10
Our stay was brilliant! The scenery and location of the barn was beautiful, very quiet and peaceful and the local village is only a short walk away. The barn conversion is very open and has plenty of room, the living room is very homely and cosy. We also made good use of the hot tub despite the rain! We were provided with all essentials and had everything we needed for the week. Bernard was also very quick to respond to any questions and was very helpful. We saw others mentioning that it was difficult to find but when we had used the app we were able to find the location relatively easily. We will definitely be coming back soon! 100% recommend

Excellent family new year
We stayed with family friends so there were four adults, two girls aged 8 and two boys aged 10. There was plenty of room for all of us in the house and the children loved the outdoor space. Top activities were fishing (didn't catch anything though!), building fires and petting the horses in the next field. The hot tub was a big hit for the adults. The converted barn is in a great location, secluded but only 10 minute walk to the town centre. Communication with Bernie, the owner, was great - very quick to answer any questions we had. Would thoroughly recommend Abernant Barn to anyone wanting to get away with friends or family for a very relaxing break.

A great getaway
If you are looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of every day life this is just perfect! The log burner and hot tub are great for relaxing after countrywide walks with the dogs. From booking, everything was so straight forward. I would highly recommend!

Truly amazing!
We stayed here for my birthday weekend and it was an absolute pleasure to be able to be here - the place is stunning, right next to the stream amongst all the trees you really feel part of nature. The hot tub is a great way to unwind and relax in the tranquil settings in complete privacy. All the horses around made it that extra special. We would highly recommend this amazing barn and look forward to returning back!

Perfectly remote and tranquil
We had a lovely week at Abernant Barn. It was beautiful and spacious and in a perfectly quiet location next to a river. The hot tub was a luxury treat very much appreciated after the mountain walks. We loved fishing in the river, toasting marshmallows at the fire pit and BBQ in any weather. Communication with Bernard was very efficient if you needed anything.

Fab weekend away

Lovely quiet and secluded area
Lovely barn in a secluded area. Enjoyed the hot tub and the river very near the barn. However I feel that a fresh lick of paint is needed throughout the barn and the outside area could have done with a tidy up and maybe a grass cut. There was a tele however we were u able to use it even if we wanted to as couldn't find remote control. I feel that little touches such as bins in toilets cleaning facilities should be provided. Overall a lovely barn and nice surroundings but needs a bit of tlc which would make it look more appealing

Super calm cosy and relaxing cottage

Fantastic house!
We have just returned from a 3 night stay in this beautiful house. Bernard was brilliant both before and during our stay, answering questions that we had really quickly. The house is in a really stunning location, set on acres of land and it is so private. The hot tub is brilliant and we spent many hours relaxing in it. The kids loved the river and rope swing too. We would definitely recommend this house and we would love to return. Thanks Bernard, you have a beautiful house, we couldn’t have wished for more!

Perfect weekend away
We had a great stay in the barn! The pictures don't do it full justice, it is completely picturesque and spotlessly clean! The rope swing was lots and fun and it was great to meet the friendly horses in the field behind. The hot tub was perfect. One tip I would say is bring loo roll as we forgot this and did a quick drive to the shop! Thank you Bernard we would love to come back!

Perfectly remote and charming
This accommodation was practically perfect for the girls weekend I had planned. Well stocked kitchen, comfy and spacious living area, charming and peaceful location and a fantastic hot tub! Bernard was extremely helpful and always responds to any questions. I’d suggest if you are saying as 8 adults (as we were) the bunk beds are more suitable for children however we managed and the sofa is very comfortable if needed. Thank you for allowing us to stay.

Brilliant getaway
For a group of girls wanting a weekend relaxing it was perfect! The house is wonderful, clean and spacious! Kitchen was well equipped with cutlery and pots and pans! Loved the underfloor heating and the log burner in the evenings! The hot tub was fab, loverly to relax in after a long walk around the loverly surrounding areas! Our only issue was finding the property more precise directions would have been very helpful as satnavs take you to a house nearby! Communication with the hosts was good and we would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful break! Thank you!

Family fun celebrating 21st birthday
We had the best time in Abernant Barn. The house is perfect for big groups with a huge open sitting room, roaring fire, comfy beds and we even fitted all 9 of us around the table :) the lake at the bottom of the garden supplied hours of fun as well as the hot tub. Would def recommend and I’m sure we will be back again. Thank you.

Great little place
Lovely secluded location (a little tricky to find in the dark!) the house is lovely and warm really cosy with the fire place! The kitchen is beautiful but could have been slightly better equipped with sharper knives some wine glasses and mixing bowls etc. Over all we had a great time, lots of laughs in the hot tub! We’d definitely come back again!
