This is an old building, built in the late 1800’s, in a little town in the middle of nowhere. That gives it, it’s charm. (But not necessarily air conditioning for the warmer months).
We were given a code to enter the front door and our room.
We arrived at 8:00 on a Saturday night to find it’s a self service operation. This became a problem when someone else occupied our assigned room. There were no staff members in the building.
We tried calling and texting the number used to text us instructions, we called the number on the front door, we looked high and low until we found a post-it that had an emergency number. We tried them all. No one answered, no one returned our calls. We contacted Expedia, they couldn’t find the property managers.
Then one couple walked in and talked to them to find out they had some check-in issues with their code. They gave us the number of the person that called them back. Someone answered that number and they remotely sent us to another room.
Needless to say, being in the middle of nowhere without a place to stay or any options nearby on a Saturday night before Mother’s Day leaves one with an uneasy feeling.
My advice: beware of places with multiple one line reviews with excellent rating.
