The day before our arrival I contacted the hotel to amend our booking, eventually having spoken to three individuals I was finally informed that as I'd booked via a third party agent/website that the hotel had no power to amend the booking, it was completely beyond their control. I dubiously accepted this explanation despite the obvious and very stinking wiff of bovine fecal matter that came with it. Fair enough. Benefit of the doubt etc,.
