Beautiful views and a Hot Tub
What an amazing home! My friends and I gathered here to escape from, well, everything, and it was great. The house felt homey, and the views and walks were gorgeous. The Hot Tub was fun while we toasted to the amazing view of the California coast. We will return.

Great location, extra guest at night
The overall property was great. The location was amazing. It was a quick short walk to the beach, which had a private little cut out and was just perfect. The hot tub was a great amenity with the best view, and we all enjoyed it. The house had everything we needed, and it made for a great couple of days, however when I say extra guest, if you are into spirits or not, whether you believe them or not, there is definitely an extra guest at night. Who was seen, around 3 am both nights by a few of us. Not mean just, there . It was a little creepy and made me uneasy, but I don’t think I could’ve stayed there past the two nights. I’m not sure of the history of the house but being built in the 1930s, I’m sure there’s a lot. Besides “Pappy” (what we named him based off of some of the frames around) there was some mold in the bunk room that made my son immediately congested. He slept there both nights and came home with a little cold from it. Being by the ocean mold is expected but there was A LOT so that was a little disappointing. But other than that it was a nice spring break getaway from the hustle and bustle of our busy lives.

I'm happy you enjoyed your visit. I have asked my cleaners to check thoroughly for mold and they found none. They also didn't find any extra guests!

Lovely Getaway
We absolutely LOVED this comfortable and relaxed beach cabin It's steps away from the path to Wright Beach and spending mornings in the hot tub as the sun rose was divine. The property has a thriving bird population in the many beautiful bushes and lupins and other plants surrounding the house (smells like heaven on earth) and we really enjoyed watching them while we soaked. The place is comfortabe with a lot of living space inside. We will ablsolutely be back.

I really wanted to like this
For the price and great location I really wanted to like this property. Unfortunately we had major problems. There was a live coach roach between the bedsheets. Hundreds of ants in the kitchen and queen bedroom. The fire pit in backyard has a bush growing over half the pit. The hot tub jets did not work and the water level was 7 inches low below jets. Making it unusable. The host asked me to take out a hose from somewhere, connect and fill the hot tub and to turn the water off and put the hose away. The host had no helpful advice or consolation.

I'm so sorry your visit did not meet your expectations. We work very hard to ensure everyone who visits the cottage has a wonderful time. Ants have been a problem due to all the rain. Our cleaners spray between guests but sometimes they are quick to return. The hot tub jets work perfectly. The spa just needed a little water added by a nearby hose to be fully functional. It is a very simple process. I was happy to provide a prompt detailed explanation of how to do that. Again, it is our goal to make sure every visit by every guest is a great one!

Plenty of space and great location
Rented the house for my wife’s 60th birthday and had two couples show up for a surprise. Great space for the six people and nice views of the ocean and working ranch across the highway.

One big problem...
Old house, charming decor, lots of character. We arrived at 8pm and upon entry the whole house reeked distinctly of cat urine. We opened all of the windows to air it out but it made no difference. The smell is very strong in the front TV room, specifically on the rug. My wife dropped her new blanket on the rug briefly and when she picked it up, it smelled so bad that I had to wash it. The kids started referring to it as "the piss room" it was so bad. We left the property for the day and the smell had stuck to our clothes and made its way into our car. Aside from that, everything else was fine. But to get out of town to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday only to be stuck inside a cat-urine-smelling house during a never-ending torrential downpour wasn't the stay we were expecting.

I'm so sorry for your discomfort. I do not allow cats on the property but we are getting the rugs cleaned. We go out of our way to make sure our guests have a great experience at Costa Casa!

Conveniently located near Duncan’s landing, you can walk to the beach and it’s an easy drive to bodega bay - very cozy inside with a warm fireplace on cold blustery days

Comfortable, budget friendly place with many issues
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the house but wouldn't book it again. First off, the photos of the view are misleading as there are thick power or telephone lines running between the property and the highway, so there is no ocean view without seeing them. The photos in the listing look as if there is nothing but sky above the deck and hot tub. Also, the whole place looks very worn and tired and needs to be updated everywhere, including a thorough paint job on the walls (master bathroom is remodeled). Cushions are left on the chairs outside, making them unappealing to sit on. Seat cushions on the dining chairs are stained and generally dirty. The mattresses are on the soft side and some pillows are uncomfortable. The gas fireplace is nice to have, but you can't see much of the flame because of the soot on the glass. The hot tub is fine at night, but during the day you can see that the water is quite turbid (well water?) and just doesn't look inviting. What grossed me out most was that the host requests that guests wash a load of towels in the smallest amount of cold water on express before check out. This is unsanitary (assuming that all towels and sheets are washed that way before being used by the next guests). The washing machine is barely functional and did not successfully complete even the express cycle for me, if any guests need a washer to wash their own laundry. We enjoyed the space (bedrooms are pretty private) and the location between Bodega Bay and Jenner.

Girlfriends get away
We hac a wonderful time. House isvery comfortable. If you open the bedroom windows you can hear the waves. The house is well insulated. We used the fireplace in the evening and never had to use this heater. WE WILL BE BACK

Left a day early…
The rental was in a very nice location….quiet with no one on either side. Beach access was just a short walk. The photos on the website must be old as they do not really reflect the property…..which desperately needs maintenance /updating inside and out. We really wanted to enjoy this older coastal cottage…..but It just wasn’t what we expected.

Great long weekend
Location was magical. Number of rooms and bathrooms perfect for our 5 member group and one dog. Had a wonderful time! House is charming but furniture is outdated. Easy to overlook with the other amenities. Loved the pasture out one side. Had a great time watching the cowboys and the cows. Thank you

Great place
It was perfect for our family reunion. It was close to the beach,within walking distance. We did have trouble with a plugged up sink in the kitchen but owner came right over and fixed it. It was great and would rent again.

Nice property on the Sonoma Coast
This location is a bit old but it works great for a gathering. Easy walk around the corner to Wright’s Beach and a quick drive back into Bodega Bay if you need supplies. Lots of beds if you have a big group.

Great location, nice owners, need a new dishwasher
We stayed at Costa Casa for a sibling’s weekend. By far the best part was the proximity to the beach for the price. Having the hot tub on the deck off the main room was also really nice. Almost everything in the house was as expected. It is an old house so we knew it would have character. The kitchen was nicely stocked and all of the beds were comfortable except one in the room with two queen size beds. The towels were old but clean. The fireplace and heater worked well and made it cozy. Future renters should know that hot is forward on the kitchen faucet, and it needs to run a bit before getting hot. I would have given it a higher rating overall if it were not for the dishwasher. The note says to scrape the plates before running, which we did, but there was still a lot of smelly standing water at the bottom. Looking into further we could see that the air gap line was plugged with what looked like old rice, also moldy and smelly. When running the dishwasher a second time, we saw that the standing water on the bottom of the glasses on the top level were dirty so we had to wash everything by hand before and after using. The owners really need to replace the dishwasher and fix the line vs leaving a note to scrape plates. That said the owners were very nice and the property manager was very responsive.

Great location, perfect for families
Great location, beach is right there, about a 5 minute walk. The house is a little old, but very spacious. It had everything we needed, the kids loved the separate bunk room. The jacuzzi was the highlight- it didn’t quite hold its temperature if it’s cool out. Overall, this house was perfect for our trip with two families and littles. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Large vintage property with the feeling of coziness
We were a group of three seniors (74-79) and three juniors/grandchildren (18-25). The house was perfect! Walls of windows let the outside in, without the wind and rain. The layout of the house afforded bedroom privacy, and central gathering areas. We took advantage of breaks in the weather for walks to the beach, and made good use of the large table for hours of game/card time. Previously we’ve stayed in newer houses in the Bodega Heights area, but we really liked the coziness of this vintage Bodega house.

Cozy on the California Coast
This is my second visit to this cottage. The weather was a mix of sun, rain, wind, hail and thunder storms and yet we were toasty warm in a very accommodating cottage. A quick walk around the bend and we were at the beach watching the fireworks from the ocean waves on the rocks. The Northern California coast is a very special place. I'll be back!

Our stay was nice. Location was great. Plenty of room inside the house. Home needs alot of upgrading and tidying up. Very old inside. Not enough towels. Washing machine did not work. We were asked to wash our towels and then put in dryer, however, washing machine kept stoping. Overall, stay was ok but would not rent again.

This home is right off Hwy 1 and it’s just a short walk to two gorgeous beaches. Plenty of room for a group and a large hot tub with ocean views- lovely. Plus a large backyard with outdoor games available- bonus!

Cozy Cottage at the Beach
My husband and my 7 month old daughter and I had a wonderful time at this cozy cottage. It’s close to the beach and has beautiful views of the rolling hills. We loved getting to relax in the hot tub. It was only the three of us but this cottage is spacious enough for a large family or a large group of couples. Thank you for the great stay!

Great spot
We had a lovely time and enjoyed the hot tub, the large back yard with bocce ball court, comfortable furniture and good views. Right next door to a nice walk at Duncan's Cove where you can look down at the ocean. Only potential problem is that it is right off highway 1, so small children and dogs need to be kept from front doors, but that was easy to do.

AWFUL !!!
We had to leave after a one night stay !!! No one wanted to continue to stay there. > Here is a list of items that were an issue.... and I have pictures > Basically my sister flew in from Tacoma my daughter took the weekend off and so did I. My elderly parents we brought out from an assisted living home and probably shouldn’t have been in this unhealthy environment > I hired people to stay and take care of my pets at my house and now I basically have to find another place to stay this evening >We were promised a refunded by the host....which I haven't seen yet.... but not for the VRBO portion !! Our family vacation has basically been ruined > * The toilet in the blue bedroom doesn’t flush properly > * The toilet paper dispenser is broken and fell off the wall > *Both beds in the blue room are broken the bed frame is bent and the slots underneath are broken and the mattresses are awful and leaning > * There are gouges and dents and mold and exposed open walls throughout > *There is a dirty sock underneath one of the beds in the blue room > * there was a plastic bag of garbage sitting on the couch when we arrived > * There is rat poop in the kitchen (on the counter ) and on one of the bunkbeds on the floor in the master bathroom and basically throughout > * There’s also shredded wood in the windowsill in the kitchen probably from rats gnawing on the wood > * The hot tub is lovely but over chlorinated > *My sister was kept awake all night with rats gnawing on the walls. Which in turn kept her husband up all night. They also had to find and pay for accommodations for Saturday evening > * the washing machine doesn’t work… > Basically this house needs an overhaul , painting and walls repaired …..rats gone etc. it’s very unsanitary and not a comfortable environment I feel that we are due a full refund as not only was it an awful unhealthy experience but a great inconvenience and added costs to us all.

I'm so sorry for your discomfort. You have been fully refunded. The good news is the owners are putting tons of work in and have addressed the issues. The rodents are gone, the shower has been replaced and mold irradicated. New paint, new boxsprings (the mattresses are new), and new toilet are on the way! It is the perfect place for a beach get-away!

Cozy Beach House
Nice house, beds are comfy, lots of kitchen supplies, clean hot tub and lots of yard activities. Short walk/hike to the beach. House could use a little TLC, and updating. There was dog hair all over and the floors were a bit dirty. Definitely an option for when we return.

We had a lovely time even though it was overcast.
I would like to say the beds were not comfortable. I think they are very worn out. And the beds in the two double bed room definitely need new linens. I have stayed here before and the beds were much nicer. We didn't let this stop us from enjoying our visit after all we were at the ocean.

Pleasant and roomy
My sister and I stayed, and it was wonderful for us. We each had a bedroom with bath, lots of room in between so the early riser didn't wake the other in the mornings. There is also another bedroom and bunk room we didn't use. The backyard was good sized and we played bocci ball. Took evening hot tubs, and throughly enjoyed ourselves. The photos are accurate.
