Deceptive Charm: A Not-So-Comfortable Stay
Our recent experience at Glenferrie Lodge revealed a stark contrast between its advertised features and the actual hostel-like conditions we encountered. This establishment, cleverly listed on platforms like Hotels.com, masquerades as a lodge or hotel, but it falls short of these expectations. The first two room types openly declare shared bathrooms and toilets, providing a glimpse into the basic hostel setup. However, the real let-down occurs when considering the third, seemingly more upscale option. To our dismay, the shared nature of bathrooms and toilets is conspicuously absent from the headline. Guests are led to believe otherwise, only discovering this crucial detail after navigating through multiple clicks, or at check in. Very disappointing. Adding to the disappointment is the lack of cleaning and room service policy. Room refreshes services occur only once every four days, a frequency that raises questions about the “hostel’s" commitment to guest comfort. This practice is below industry standards and significantly diminishes the overall guest experience. Certainly not worth a 4-star rating. Finally, a particularly disheartening incident unfolded when we requested an early breakfast bag due to an early flight and checkout, we had already paid for breakfast. Regrettably, our expectations were met with a mere piece of toast bread, emphasising the “hostel’s” lack of consideration for guest needs. This minimal effort raises serious concerns about the overall quality.

Rigtig hyggeligt sted i fine og rolige omgivelser. Tæt på operaen og havnebroen. Fin service i receptionen. Okay morgenbuffet.

Nice and just a ferry ride away from downtown
It was a nice stay, I arrived late in the afternoon and the deskclerk was polite. room was fine could need a little touch up. But furniture was new and in nice condition.

I booked a single bedroom with shared bathroom. I appreciate the tea coffee kettle facilities and small fridge. However i wish there is a glass and a teaspoon, not just 1 cup. I've been to a 3 star motel and they have cups and glasses and teaspoon. This is a 4 star hotel so i expect to have a glass, cup and teaspoon (not throwaway stirer). Otherwise, everything else was fine. The shared bathroom and toilet facilities are good. I have no issues with other guests. The staff are nice and friendly. Note the area is somewhat hilly, and the property have stairs so you must be quite fit and like walking to stay here.

Beautiful area of Sydney and close to everything. Easy access by walking or by ferry. Breakfasts were amazing, staff friendly and awesome views. Beautiful mixture of old new architecture and well established gardens. Only down side was very limited parking! Make sure you pre book a spot and be aware that they are very limited. Street parking only for 2 hours. Good value for cost!

I cannot say how the property was because of an extremely delayed flight from Surabaya on Lion Air. However, I would have loved to meet the staff after receiving the kind welcome message before my planned arrival.

I had the best stay in this property. For my surprise , it was just 8 minutes by walk and you catch the best view Opera House and Harbour Bridge . It’s really close to train station and easy street parking!

Just What We Needed
Small room but comfy bed, clean bathrooms, no disruptive noise, and zero foul room smell. Fell asleep quickly and woke up refreshed, not much more you can ask for! The front desk staff were amazing both times we interacted with them (Jusi and the woman who was working on 26/02/24 in the morning whose name I sadly missed).

My son and I had a lovely stay- we were pleasantly surprised at the comfort and cleanliness of the room. The included breakfast was also great, particular at this price.

Understand that this is a lodge, not a hotel. There are (most likely) stairs to your room and there are shared bathrooms (although you can book a room with an ensuite). If you understand this when you book you won't be disappointed. I stayed in a room with an ensuite. The lodge is quite, rooms are clean and it is very convenient by ferry to work in the city and with easy walking distance to coffee, restaurants and groceries. I have stayed here before and would stay here again. Always a great place when here for business and hardly needing to be in the room.

. All the communal bathrooms are always cleaned. The beds are very confortable with nice linens. Tne breakfast is super ( hot and cold). Very convenient to use the kitchen for seating and using the microwave. The staff is very responding , polite and helping. The location cannot be better. We can walk over the bridge or use the quick ferry. I will be back

Loved it, if u want to find out more youll have to book it yourself. I will say, getting around is easy although hilly as theres a ferry that goes to Circular Quay, a few steps down. Reminds me of Faulty Towers.

Charming place located close to the ferries. It does get a little annoying if you are planning to go downtown frequently as you likely have to take the ferry every time or walk 15 mins to the nearest train station. My room was a double with a balcony. I loved the balcony and thought it was very cute. Good property for a few days and breakfast is included. Only thing I did not like was the cockroach that jumped on me in the middle of the night. It was huge!

Glenferrie Lodge is in a beautiful area with stunning views on a nearby harbour side walk. The grounds of property are green and welcoming. The rooms have aircon but you can also open the windows and use a ceiling fan if u like. Shared bathrooms are clean and easily accessible. There are shared balconies and a garden to enjoy for all guests. Friendly staff and an excellent value breakfast with full range of hot and cold options. The surrounding area is pretty with historic walks if u like, and cafes and restaurants are close by. A simple ferry ride will get u across the harbour to the city if that’s what you’re after. Highly recommended for a night or a week.

This was a great property! Outside of the hustle and bustle, but just a short ferry ride to the center of Sydney. Breakfast was great, and eating area was spacious. The room was comfortable and clean.

Beautiful location, so if you’re not from Australia, it may be perfect for you. However, there were quite a few fails from me. Their own website boasts a café & playground. There is no café & a weathered old cubby house. I was told that I would not be charged for a black coffee, no sugar at breakfast, but ended up being charged $15! I requested an accessible room for my disability. Although I was ‘upgraded’ from a room with 2 single beds to a room with 3 single beds, there were too many issues. The interior handle fell off the door - it had been held in place with toilet paper! The shared bathroom was nearly impossible to use and so filthy that I refused to shower there. The exhaust fans were so full of dust that the window was permanently open - onto an outdoor area where people could watch you. The hallway had the same rubbish lying in it for the duration of our stay. They key card stopped working, which required many trips up & down stairs to have fixed. Stay here if you’re happy with backpacker-type accommodation, minus actual dorms.

ジャカランダの花を見に行った時、2泊しました。キリビリのフェリーターミナルから歩いて5分程度の静かな住宅街にあります。リーズナブルな宿泊代にもかかわらず、朝食付きです。ただしバスルームは共有。近くにレストランやスーパーなどがありませんので、車がないと不便ですが、サーキュラーキーまでフェリーで5分ほどなので、問題ないと思います。静かな滞在をご希望の方にはお勧めします。
