High points: property as pictured - cozy feel. The kitchen makes eating in easy. Location convenient to all areas.
Low points:
1) Airplanes create deafening noise 6:30am-10:00pm, especially 6:30-7:00am. With windows/door shut, it woke me out of a sound sleep each day at 6:30am sharp. I live 1/2 block from a 6-lane major street in a large city and never have trouble sleeping or holding conversations inside, as I did here. Listing should include noise warnings.
2) Limited parking. Post: "Plenty of street parking" not our experience. We had to park in a 15-min zone and carry luggage across busy street on arrival, then wait with the car for 20 min for a spot. Host offered a space out back, but the next day that space was also full. Posting should state parking is limited.
3) Bright skylight above bed prevented sleep. As near any busy street, light is ever present. Posting should mention skylight that shines on bed, so visitors who need a dark sleeping space may choose another property.
4) Other noise and light made the situation worse. Public washing machine sits against the outer wall of the kitchen, creating noise and vibration inside. Motion light for that area shines through bathroom window at night.
5) Plumbing issues (host did offer to send a repair person). The kitchen sink backed up with dirty water, containing bits of food and hair, when the washing machine outside was in use.
6) Misleading and insensitive communication from host. As exhausted educators, we just couldn't muster the energy to look for another place once settled. But as all these issues built up, on the third morning we had had it. I asked for a refund due to misleading post information. The host asked why we didn't say something right away, which makes sense, but we were trying to make the best of it. She then said, "I think you would be happier somewhere else tonight," and "we have never had problems with parking," or other concerns. The first statement sounded insensitive at best, and the second was clearly false. In fact, the first 'RULE' on the "House Rules" sheet (not shown on posting) reads, "Please READ/VERIFY street parking signs to avoid tickets, example: NO PARKING Wed & Fri between 7am-10am." (caps are host's) Clearly, others have had LOTS of issues, which host denied.
We would still like a refund for this stay, due to an awful experience that would have been avoided with any of these issues accurately described in posting. We simply would have booked elsewhere.
