"The hotel was very modern and comfortable. It felt like a cosy coffee shop in the lobby, with a lovely bar on the side. The staff in both the hotel and bar were extremely friendly and the free welcoming drink was a nice added bonus! The room was bright and the bed comfy with a lovely sea view. "Old shady hotel that definitely had its prime 30-40 years ago. Wasn't well kept, the rooms where filthy, the toilets didn't work and the waterhose in the shower had no power and could only be extremely hot or extremely cold. Plus it also leaked during the night, giving a drip drip drip noise all the time. The bed was also very uncomfortable, being very short and you could feel the strings underneath. "There was no clear indication of how we accessed the property. Despite trying to communicate with the owner, there was no response. We had to just turn up and hope for the best. Check inn was quick and easy and entrance to hotel is actually separate to the adjacent pub which was great as we wasn't disturbed by any noise from the revellers on a weekend! "I love these type of B&B’s. This B&B is steeped in history built in the 18th century, On the land owned by the Spencer family, Vincent Van Gogh also lived on the square, so this is not a modern hotel if that’s what you’re looking for, it has steep stairs and smallish rooms, but is full of character, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the hospitality was fantastic and the breakfast was delicious, the pub on the corner is very friendly and only a short walk to the beach."
