Private island with beautiful views and tranquility. A fantastic marine reserve that you could swim or kayak to and swim with amazing variety of fish. It was like swimming n an aquarium. Food was terrible!! Food service was bad, wait time for food was painfully long. Bar drinks only looked good, quality disappointing.

Property was really clean, great beach, overall friendly staff. The guys working at the water activities both were great! Our favorite part was the couple of cats roaming around the hotel gardens and bar. It added sweetness to the hotel :) The things we did not like: one of us is vegan and there was very little options. Especially when they had buffet dinners. Also, the bar staff was overall unfriendly and extremely slow. Also, it would have been nice if waiters came to the pool and served drinks there. Hated getting out of the pool and asking the bartender for a drink, and getting a “give me some time” reply. Especially when the bar was virtually empty.

Bora Bora Baby
The Sofitel in Bora was fantastic. They were renovating the overwater bungalows but you couldn’t even tell. The location is perfect for walking to dinner and the market. That location is valueable if you want local stuff and save some money. The beach is small but there were only about 10 other people there so it was perfect. The lagoon is beautiful and has reefs so you can snorkel right from the hotel. They give you fins and a mask for free so that’s great. Also, you can reserve a kayak for free and hit the coral gardens, which is near the Sofitel private island. (That’s a separate hotel across the lagoon from this Sofitel). It’s the perfect distance to kayak and see some of the best snorkeling in bora. All and all this place is fantastic, worth the price and is often time cheaper than other places on bora.

Lovely hotel, beautiful location and lovely staff. Breakfast wasn’t great - the food wasn’t refreshed or replenished and at 9am the buffet was empty despite running until 11am. We had to ask for Coffee, along with notifying the manager that there was no food left for customers on the breakfast buffet.

Beach Bungalow #2 has it's own little garden area out front which made it seem larger. Bungalow #3 however faces right on the beach which I think would be nicer at the end of the day. Sunlight this time of year is limited in the afternoon as beach faces eastward and sun goes behind the hills behind the beach. Not a problem for those staying on the Private Island which I would chose if $ permit. Understand resort will be closing soon for renos. May explain why hardly any of the wine on the list was available. Close to Lucky House restaurant which was delicious. Free minibar refilled daily helped save costs (pop, water and two beers). Drinks expensive at bar 1600 XPF +

Great location with snorkeling right off their beach. Beach bungalows were nice size and cleaned daily but somewhat dated. Breakfast buffet was awesome.

Would recommend Marara! Would love to come back.
The resort was great! Only complaint is the bugs and geckos in the room. Not sure how they get in but they did. The beach and pool were fantastic. The breakfast buffet was great, we looked forward to it every morning. Location was great 2500 francs to get to town on the taxi. We liked walking to Luckys for dinner. Some restaurants like St. James send a taxi to pick you up and drop you off. It only cost 400 francs. You can also do quite a bit of snorkeling off the shore and a 20 min kayak paddle gets you to the Coral garden for snorkeling. Spa was at the private island so we spent an afternoon and evening over there without having to pay triple the price to stay on the private island. We actually preferred the openness of Sofitel Marara over the more tightly developed Sofite private island.

Had a terrific experience in room 8 directly in front of the water . One of the workers, Pipi, was especially helpful at breakfast daily The woman at the bar was very unhelpful the Sunday night that we showed up 15 minutes before the dinner deadline. Probably because too many tourists miss the dinner cutoff on Sundays, a night the island shuts down early

Enjoyed our short stay. Bungalows are great our one smelt of damp and the entry door was a bit tricky to lock. Staff were very friendly, I would recommend staying here.

Improvements urgently required
Confortable bungalow rooms over the sea. Staff needs heavy training in all aspects. Many staff are not professional at all except restaurant male staff who were nice and cooperative. Facilities are not meeting expectations. Main hall and reception is below average. Restaurant toilets still broken after two days. Shuttle to airport is not free which should be a must. Overpriced hotel for level of experience and service rendered. There is a problem with Accor not providing guests what they came for.

Beautiful grounds, lovely bungalows. Bed was not very comfortable in the marara hotel on the main land. The food at the hotel was not great, except for the pierrade dishes. The location was excellent, and lots of great snorkelling close by.

Atendimento Excelente e Conforto
Ficamos 3 diárias no Bangalô Jardim (nº 22). O quarto é espaçoso e confortável, banheiro também muito bom. O café da manhã do hotel é excelente, com muita variedade e comida gostosa. Jantamos no hotel, tanto no restaurante quanto no Bar da piscina, a comida é ótima. O preço é muito bom, até mesmo melhor que em restaurantes próximos. A piscina do hotel é linda. A praia não é das mais bonitas e tem vários barcos atracados, o que estraga a vista. O atendimento no hotel é excelente, são muito atenciosos. Contratamos um tour no hotel para mergulhar com tubarões e almoço incluso no Motu, foi o melhor passeio da nossa viagem. O hotel fica próximo a praia de Matira, a mais bonita de Bora Bora, apenas 10 min a pé. Até o centro de Vaitape (onde fica o porto) o táxi custa U$ 25,00. Adoramos o Sofitel, excelente custo benefício para os padrões de Bora Bora.

Superou nossas expectativas...
Ficamos 2 dias no Bangalô Beira Mar. O quarto é espaçoso, cama confortável e enorme. Ganhamos vários mimos durante nossa estadia, como garrafa de espumante, alguns docinhos, bandeja de frutas. O café da manhã do hotel é ótimo, com muita variedade. Participamos de um jantar especial (buffet livre) com apresentação de dança, custo U$ 41,00 por pessoa (sem bebida), a comida estava ótima e foi muito agradável. Jantamos um dia no Bar da Piscina, preço interessante (pizza U$ 20,00). A praia do hotel não é das mais bonitas, vários barcos ficam atracados, o que estraga a vista. Para ver o mar azul de Bora Bora tem que fazer os passeios de barco. Reservamos um passeio pelo Hotel para mergulhar com tubarões e almoço incluso no Motu, foi o melhor passeio de toda nossa viagem, super recomendo! Custo do passeio U$ 140,00 por pessoa. O Hotel fica próxima a praia de Matira, uns 10 minutos a pé, essa praia é a mais bonita de Bora Bora, vale a pena visitar e mergulhar por lá. Perto do hotel tem um mercadinho, caso queira comprar lanchinhos e bebidas, bem prático. Do hotel ao centro de Vaitape, onde fica o porto, o táxi custa U$ 25,00. Adoramos o Sofitel, estava dentro do que podíamos pagar e foi tudo excelente.

the Hotel needs some upgrading which is going to be done, later this year. some of the steps and railing one needs to be careful of, as they need fixing. But if you know that and it is what it is - then it was very enjoyable. Staff in regular Island style are willing to please and the Breakfast team give you an excellent start to the day. The rooms are spacious. I love the location being near to Matira village and beach. So many local restaurants within walking distances and they have fabulous local menus. the evening menu could have more local feel.

Nous avons été reclassé au sofitel à notre demande, suite à un geste commercial de votre part car notre hotel initialement réservé sur votre site le royal où nous avions été débité etait encore en restauration. Nous avons été bien accueilli, mes chambres sont spacieuses et propres. Le seul point négatif cest la nourriture pas digne d'un quatre étoiles a fortiori de la chaine sofitel.

C est pas ce qu on attendait !
L hotel fait des travaux dans ce moment et tout est un peux abandonne . Les polynésiens sont très aimables mais il n y a pas suffisamment de personnel , la chambre a 1.30 de l apres midi n était pas faite , on oublie de maître du savon et les peignoirs . Une demie heure pour nous apporter la carte au restaurant et une autre demie heure pour nous apporter la glace fondue . Les toilettes de réception sans nettoyer , pleins de mouches et mauvaise audeur . On dirait qu il estait abandonné. Notre chambre avait une très jolie vue sur le lagoon mais avec tout le bruit de la route et des habitants qui sont juste derrière la cabane . Une famille qui habite avec ses enfants qui se réveillent en pleurant à 5 heures du matin avec des coqs et des cochons , et la sortie de leurs maison est par le pont ou est l escalier de notre cabane . Tout à fait comunique avec l hôtel . On met la surveillance mais c est pas l exclusivité qu on pense avoir à Bora Bora . La cabane qui était juste acote il y avait toujours 4 personnes à la Terrace , des gens locale , et les cabanes sont pour deux personnes . C est pas ce que j esperrais d un Sophitel .J ai fait les commentaires à la gerente et elle nous a fait un bon pour une excursion et le transfert à l Aeroport. Je crois que les chambres sur la plage sont mieux mais l hôtel n à presque pas de soleil pendant toute la journée et ce n est pas l eau turquoise des motus .

My fiancé and I spent one night at Sofitel the first night we arrived in Bora Bora. It was pleasant, the place was quiet, and the service staff was very friendly and eager help.

Disappointed on this Hotel for the price we paid
We just arrived last night to this hotel which was recommended to us by our friends . The lady at the reception last nite was very nice after a tiring trip to bira bira we decided to have dinner by the pool and there we encountered disaster , we waited an hour to get our food , they served us butter to start with but no bread to eat the butter with ?? We got a garden view bungalow our first time in Bora Bora for our honeymoon .the bungalow is alright but TV doesn’t work too much disturbance and WiFi is very very slow always shows no network. We were in Moorea previous 3 days and since it was our honeymoon they upgraded us to a beautiful bungalow and offered us a bottle of champagne in our room to congratulate us on our wedding . We were expecting good service from the Sofitel in Bora Bors but very disappointed we asked for an ocean side and they said sure but you have to pay extra. Would not recommend this hotel for honeymoon stay.
