They made me wait an hour and a half extra to check in and then a male staff member entered my room without knocking as i was changing. I found the experience unprofessional and concerning.

What an excellent hotel! Incredibly friendly and helpful staff, wonderful location right inside the city gates to the Old City, only steps from wonderful restaurants and shopping. There are amazing sights just blocks from the hotel as well like the Maiden Tower. Stay here if you can!

The property is beautiful in a good location. Restaurant is good. Staff have very poor English and service awareness. We had to call multiple times for basic services as toilet paper, pillows.

shah palace hotel Baku my stay .
Shah palace hotel i Baku Azerbaijan is a true joy to be in , we were with couple of friends there stayed 5 days and every day was more fun then the previous one. The day starts with an AMAZING breakfast with wonderful kitchen staff and Breakfast manager. there us a wonderful SPA, AND GYM over all its a 10 out of 10 .

Das Hotel liegt in der Altstadt und liegt in der Nähe von Metro- und Busstation. Auch die Flaniermeile Nazimi ist in einige Fussminuten erreichbar. Die Lage ist wirklich sehr gut gelegen. Obwohl in der nähere Umgebung immer Musik stattfindet, war unser grosses Zimmer mit Balkon auf der Strasse ziemlich ruhig. Der Balkon hätte ruhig einmal gewischt werden sollen, da die Trauben darauf fielen, schleppte man diese im Zimmer. Das Früstückstbuffet ist reichlich und wechselt täglich, dass Müesli nicht vorhanden war,konnten wir verkraften. Das Brot ist gewohnheitsbedürftig und ist nicht mit europ. Brot vergleichbar. Das Kuchenbüffet war dagegen grosszügig. Im Parterre ist eine Bar vorhanden,welche nicht bedient ist,schade. Der Innenhof ist wunderschön und ganz speziell sind die archäologische Funde,welche durch eine Scheibe sichtbar sind. Fitness und Spa haben wir nicht benutzt.Im Grossen und Ganzen ganz spezielles Hotel und wir würden wieder buchen.

The dreaded room 504
I arrived at the hotel a few hours before the standard check in time. I mentioned my gold membership with hotels.com, and that it had sent me a message saying subject to availability I was eligible for an early check-in. The check-in clerk refused to even determine if there was anything available. When I mentioned my gold status and that hotels.com sent me a message advising of a potential early check-in, the clerk abruptly responded by saying "That's not my problem". Upon returning to the hotel at the appointed time, the clerk pettily assigned me to the dreaded 5th floor of the hotel, which was actually in an annex of the hotel and required ttrekking up two long flights of stairs as that floor was not served by an elevator. Worse, I was assigned to a room (504) that faced a parking lot with garbage collection and other neighborhood noises early in the morning. I couldn't get a decent night's sleep the entire visit I was there. The included breakfast was good. Not certainly as good as many other places, but good. The hotel is centrally located in the old city which made logistics very easy. If I hadn't had to encounter such an appallingly rude staff member, I probably would have had a better and more enjoyable stay in Baku.

Great location in a historic building
Shah Palace benefits from a perfect location inside the wall of the Old city. The building itself is quite impressive, with a beautiful central atrium. The room was spacious and fairly well equipped, the bed is very comfortable. The decoration is as seen on the pictures. Breakfast buffet is quite extensive but quite basic, quality is mediocre to my taste. The personnel is kind and tries hard to be very helpful. They have organised restaurant bookings for me ahead of arrival for instance, and helped to reconfirm a flight. But at times, they seem a bit unsure about what needs to be done. All in, a very good experience

Great Place
There were issues at check-in as they weren't looking at the right place for my booking. I had to make calls and take roaming charges and eventually the manager could locate. They did allow me early check-in which was great. Front desk staff were amazing and friendly. The hotel is ancient style like the name suggests, but equally very beautiful. Room was nice, clean and spacious. Even food at the hotel was nice despite limited choices. The washroom layout could be better certainly and the water pressure too. Perhaps the washrooms need upgrading now. Location was brilliant, right inside old town and walking distance to everything. Overall, I would highly recommend staying with them.

This is a unique stay in the heart of the old city. The breakfast buffet was one of the best, with endless options that changed daily. It was clean and the staff were friendly. I would definitely recommend.

Great stay , nice classic room 209. Only bathtub need some real work. Too high on door is in wrong direction. They need real design engineer to correct the issue. Or replace it with standard shower room.

Receptie was onfatsoenlijk; ontbijt was zwaar onvoldoende, 's nachts 2 x wakker gebeld door receptie om kwijtgeraakt boek van uitcheckende gast met vraag van receptie of ze de kamer mochten doorzoeken; lekkage onderkant bidet en daardoor plassen water gedurende hele verblijf op de spiegelgladde vloer van de badcel; schimmel aan het plafond en daardoor stankoverlast, tegels ontbraken in de vloer van de douchecel, er werd nauwelijks schoongemaakt en wastafel en bad helemaal niet; bed werd niet verschoond; handdoeken vol gele en bruine vlekken; bad had geen stop en de douche werkte niet, alleen de handdouche; hele hoge instap douche via bad; geluidsoverlast van het terras van het naastgelegen restaurant tot ver na middernacht en 's ochtends heel vroeg bij het gereedmaken van het ontbijt; gladde vloeren in de gangen werden gedweild zonder waarschuwingsbord neer te zetten waardoor twee x bijna gevallen.

Spacious rooms but needs updating. Style is very traditional but could do with an added modern twist - big throws and heavy curtains are overwhelming. Shower needs updating. Beautiful lobby that is not used and in the dark! Would make a wonderful place for drinks.

The hotel is very well situated in the old city, surrounded by restaurants, music around in the evening, Bazzar and the view is beautiful. Two negative things, ask not to be in the 5 th floor, internet is not always working and there is no elevator to the 5th floor while there is an elevator up to the fourth floor. The restaurant is a pain to find or to go to if you are on the 5 th floor. You need to take the stairs up to the 3 floor, then take the elevator to the 4 th floor. I would not recommend the 5th floor for elderly people. A good thing, there are tv channels for the news in English and French. Baku is a lovely city. I loved the country. Enjoy it!

There's no better location than the Shah Palace ... inside "Old Town," near historic sites and good restaurants, walking distance to Bayside Park.
