Description

Central to the network of inhumane concentration camps, Sachsenhausen was also an SS training facility. Learn of its atrocities and gain historical perspective on its Nazi and Soviet use. This full-day tour offers poignant insight into one of the 20th century’s most profound brutalities.

On the fringes of a national park lies the infamous site of Sachsenhausen. Incarcerating primarily political prisoners, the camp saw the deaths of 30,000 people. Witness its preserved barracks and sparse living conditions, observe the remains of the hugely emotive execution facilities, and begin to grasp the magnitude of the crimes committed here.

Learn about the daily life of its prisoners and about its counterfeit currency operation, the largest ever seen and a Nazi strategy to affect the economies of the allied forces. Hear how the horrors continued after WWII as the Soviets commandeered it for their own undesirable means.

Pause for thought at the memorial, contemplating the harrowing sights and remembering the tens of thousands of lives lost in the pursuit of one man’s perverse ideal.

I found my trip to Sachsenhausen to be a very informative exlerirnce, hearing things you haven't heard before. How 3 men had to share a bed and a toilet as there wasn't enough. How a gaurd took a prisoners hat and threw it in to the neutral zone told the man to get it, so he had two choices to not do it and take the consequences or to go pick it up to be shot through the back of the head. I had tears rolling down my cheeks. Well worth it. I feel it depends also on your tour guide. Ours was amazing Martin, having worked there for 10 -11 years he knew it very well.

Xavier my guide was amazing. He was very knowledgeable and was able to answer everyone’s questions. One of the best tour guides I’ve had. He even made sure that we all knew where we needed to get off on the train and have everyone directions to their destinations. Would recommend this tour.
