Firstly I can confirm the hotel rooms were very clean and the staff very helpful. Bed was comfortable and the breakfast had plenty of options including cooked (buffet style).
The hotel is quite noisy (humming etc). Our original room on the 9th floor was exceptionally so. I talked to the staff about this and they moved us to a lower floor which was much better and received an upgrade in the bargain.
Why only a 3 then?
Having travelled a lot I didn’t feel it achieved the standards of a 4.
The rooms are very basic especially the ‘standard’ room where the decor was awful. It’s almost like they are saying ‘you’ve paid for a cheaper room so we’re going to make it look cheaper’. With a few minor alterations they could improve. In fact the whole hotel feels a little soulless.
WIFI was very poor. It dropped out regularly and more often than not I could not connect. Certainly couldn’t use it to contact home by WhatsApp or FaceTime.
At breakfast they didn’t change the serving spoons often enough and several were coated with congealed food (congealed baked beans yuck).
The location is central and there is a taxi rank outside. There are plenty of restaurants around including the harbour side eateries which are close. If you are looking for good food at a reasonable price I recommend the Featherston just up the road.

Central hotel. Room was clean and comfortable. Friendly staff when checking in and out.

Our stay was pleasant. The rooms were a bit noisy (lots of door banging) and the hallways were in need of vacuuming. Very handy to all wellington features.

Was the worst hotel iv ever stayed in. Air conditioning was broken, sweated like a pig all night long.
