Mixed experience
Nice hotel with pretty grounds and very good rooms/beds, friendly staff, very disappointing jacuzzi, weird showers (difficult to get right water temperature). Good breakfast - even a chef who cooks eggs to your liking. We gave up on room service after calling many times with no reply, so we went to the evening restaurant to order which turned out to be a very disappointing meal. Dry, microwave heated meatloaf with a bit of mashed potatoes and a slight bit of gravy. Neighbourhood is not a place for relaxing walks - it is a 'has been' place with an uncertain future and terrible jetfuel smelling air due to its proximity to Laguardia Airport. Free shuttle busses to the airport, to a shopping mall and to the Subway are among the greatest assets here. We were over an hour late for a dinner appointment, however, since it took a very long time to get the taxi which the transport employee called - and which the taxi company thought he cancelled again when he spoke to other guests about a cancellation while on the phone with the taxi company.
