Disgusting Bathroom, Messy Apartment
Bathroom: Toilet did not work properly and emitted a foul odor; mildewed shower tiles. Owner failed to remedy toilet problems saying that it would be “too expensive.” The owner’s half-used toiletries covered one and a half of the two available shelves. We were forced to buy cleaning products in an attempt to sanitize the bathroom. Bedroom: Owner left piles of boxes and bags against one wall; a single cupboard (no closets in the apartment) was stuffed with the owners clothes leaving no room to unpack. His possessions were also piled to the ceiling on top of the cupboard and stuffed under the bed. Some pillows were old and stained. The door handles fell off when we tried to close the door and we had to pry the door open. Kitchen: The owner left half eaten food on the counter and in the refrigerator; the stove top was either rusted or badly needed to be cleaned. General: The washer/dryer was located in a communal facility in the building’s basement. The TV did not work. Finally, the owner ignored our repeated requests to remedy the problems or allow us to terminate the three and a half week rental.
