For a long weekend in Amsterdam, we decided to treat ourselves to a little 5 star luxury. Unfortunately, that turned out to be a huge disappointment.
Our experience with this hotel:
The parking service for this hotel is a joke – they have no on-site parking spaces and no real service for this, but for €65 a night (!!!), they’ll find an employee to drive your car to the same parking house 1 km away that you can drive to yourselves and pay €20 a night for. Even finding parking for the check in is very difficult - no signs and no employees outside to help.
Hotel room was unbearably hot and noisy. Room was 30 degrees even though the weather was only 22 and cloudy. No A/C in the hotel, but you can get a small, noisy fan or open small windows to one of Amsterdams most busy roads - doesn't lower the temperature much. Electrical curtains opened by themselves in the middle of the night. At 18:30 in the evening, rooms had still not been cleaned or made up. Breakfast is this hotel was another disappointment, with scrambled eggs and bacon, seemingly made from pre-prepared, store bought egg powder and precooked bacon. We tried getting a drink in the bar in the evening and found service there very slow and unenthusiastic – 10-15 minutes wait for a €10 aperitif. If this were a 3 star hotel, I would say the hotel was ok and no more, but for a 5 star hotel at this price point, the service, comfort and quality of this hotel is simply unacceptably low and I would not recommend it to anyone
