Totally not 5* hotel. We booked a junior suite - to make ourselfes comfortable. First the key cards didnt work for the first 2 days. The room was not clean, no wheret to put your jacket and if you have used the beed the sheets where all over and not where it was supposed to. Also the room was very cold. Breakfast was not what you expect of 5 stars - fake eggs in the morning. Generally not happy.

Art Deco hotel i Amsterdam centrum
Hvis man er til Art Deco, så er Grand Hotel Amrath i Amsterdam med sit service venlige personale et godt valg. Super beliggenhed, i gå-afstand til alt det skønne i Amsterdams kanalgader. Super god seng og lækkert rent værelse og godt badeværelse.

God oplevelse
Flot hotel med en fin atmosfære. Fine store værelser. God service og rengøring. Det så ud som om Wes Anderson havde designet hotellet og udefra lignede det Draculas slot. På den gode måde. Super centralt beliggende.

Godt hotel med hyggelige omgivelser
Fint hotel med et venligt personale. Det eneste som var ligt ærgerligt, var det var svært at få bord til aftensmad på hotellet, da der ofte var optaget.

Centralt beliggende hotel med varm pool
Hotellet ligger i et rigtig godt område meget tæt på Central Station. Man kan gå til alt og ellers er stationen som sagt tæt på. Men man kan sagtens bo mere centralt, f.eks. tæt på Damspladsen, for der var alligevel et stykke gågang til f.eks. Rijksmuseum og Van Gogh museet. Sengene var virkelig gode og poolen på hotellet var dejlig varm.

A "Grand" disappoinment
For a long weekend in Amsterdam, we decided to treat ourselves to a little 5 star luxury. Unfortunately, that turned out to be a huge disappointment. Our experience with this hotel: The parking service for this hotel is a joke – they have no on-site parking spaces and no real service for this, but for €65 a night (!!!), they’ll find an employee to drive your car to the same parking house 1 km away that you can drive to yourselves and pay €20 a night for. Even finding parking for the check in is very difficult - no signs and no employees outside to help. Hotel room was unbearably hot and noisy. Room was 30 degrees even though the weather was only 22 and cloudy. No A/C in the hotel, but you can get a small, noisy fan or open small windows to one of Amsterdams most busy roads - doesn't lower the temperature much. Electrical curtains opened by themselves in the middle of the night. At 18:30 in the evening, rooms had still not been cleaned or made up. Breakfast is this hotel was another disappointment, with scrambled eggs and bacon, seemingly made from pre-prepared, store bought egg powder and precooked bacon. We tried getting a drink in the bar in the evening and found service there very slow and unenthusiastic – 10-15 minutes wait for a €10 aperitif. If this were a 3 star hotel, I would say the hotel was ok and no more, but for a 5 star hotel at this price point, the service, comfort and quality of this hotel is simply unacceptably low and I would not recommend it to anyone

Old building in central area
States 3 days at this hotel. The hotel is from 1913, which shows, but it slap has a charm. Our room was big with a view to the canal, that was good. Close to restaurants and bars and The Red Light District. No aircondition is a no go though! We automatically assumed that a 5 star hotel has airconditioning, and had a very hot first night! We talked to the staff at the reception the next morning and they promised us a fan/ventilator, but when we came back the same evening, it still wasn’t there, and we had to remind them twice before we finally got one. Also the room-service was lousy. We had to ask to her our room cleaned when we got back to the hotel at 18.30 at night, and we even had put up the “please clean our room” sign! The next day we had to call the reception again because the minibar wasn’t refilled! All in all not a satisfying service by the reception-staff and the we had to wait a lot. Breakfast was fine, but wasn’t refilled either. When we got there there was no cheese ledt, no coffecups etc. Also one couldn’t ordet omelets om the side, as is normal in a 5 Star hotel. All in all the stay didn’t match a 5 star experience.

I am pleased that you were pleased with the spacious room allocated to you with its canal view and that our central location was convenient for you. We're sorry to hear you were disappointed by the fact that our hotel does not have airconditioning. Because our hotel is located in a monumental building we are unfortunately not allowed by the government to make great evasive changes such as installing a central airconditioning system. What we do have is a climate control system which circulates and refreshes the air but does not cool it. In the case that our guests experience discomfort because of the temperature in their room, we offer standing fans upon request. I regret to hear however, that it took two requests to deliver these to you. Regarding the disappointing standard of housekeeping service, I am extremely disappointed to hear this! I will make sure to communicate this to our Housekeeping Manager as this is not in line with the service we aim to deliver. Our apologies for the inconvenience experienced. I regret to hear that despite the positive above mentioned features you were not satisfied with the price compared to the quality delivered. As we aim to deliver nothing less than a 5 star standard to our guests every day, we are sorry to hear this. We hope that you will consider giving us a second chance to redeem ourselves from this experience and prove that we are able to provide our guests with the 5 star experience that so many have grown fond of throughout the years. We were in a room that was way too hot and no way to cool it down. They opened the old windows but with heavy curtains no air came in. I'd curtains were open- it was bright light and incoming views from other rooms. The hotel is a maze and I'm seriously glad there wasn't a fire- would have never gotten out.

loved the old building and charm it had many really good employee's Mabinci really stood out in the restaurant and how great she was with my 4y old. there were some cleanliness issues with the tub and electrical problems with the curtains. If you want to charge your phone or run a sound machine you cannot just unplug your room it takes all electricity off.

This hotel has a lot to offer for anyone traveling to Amsterdam and wanting to stay in the heart of city center. The building itself stands out from the others as it is quite beautifully historic and has a renaissance type architecture. My favorite detail about this hotel is that the hotel is walking distance to central station where you’re easily able to take public transportation like the train, metro, or tram to different parts of the city. The hotel staff is very friendly and accommodating. Anytime I had any questions or concerns they were quickly addressed and resolved. The front desk staff, the bellboy that helped carry my luggage to my room, and the restaurant staff, were all very welcoming and willing to make sure my stay was as comfortable as possible which was greatly appreciated. Due to my amazing experience at this hotel I highly recommend anyone to stay here at the Grand Hotel Amrâth, and I will definitely be booking again in the near future.

Stayed three nights at the Amrath hotel and I can honestly say no complaints - enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine with some snacks - room was very adequate in terms of size especially the king size bed - the only slight criticism was the shower over the bath as managed to make the floor a little wet! Had great time though and all staff very pleasant and helpful

Beautiful hotel inside and out. Staff are incredible friendly and helpful. There was lots of little treats we didn’t know about, mini chocolates delivered to the room every evening, mini fridge, waffles etc. Spa was incredible.

Great and very helpful front desk personnel, and bellhops. The "automatic" curtains in my room opened by themselves three times overnight, waking me up! As well, the steam room was shut down...disappointing, as the "spa" area was a main reason for booking here.

The hotel is close to Amsterdam Centraal. A strong art-deco interior design, mostly well presented with a few places where ageing is showing, as well as a long walk to our room, and a noisy lift/elevator waking us in the night. Housekeeping did not replenish towels/bathrobes in line with the hotel policy which was disappointing. The staff are wonderful and very helpful. The spa area is really nice especially after a day on a busy city break. The hotel is a short walk from the main city centre and very convenient. I totally recommend this hotel.

I couldn’t say anything bad about this hotel! Booked it for my boyfriend’s birthday on arrival we were greeted by the Guest relations officer who showed us around and took us straight to our room, where ballon’s and chocolates had been put in the room. The drinks were complementary. All staff were friendly and the service was extremely exceptional. The spa and wellness facilities were great. I would recommend this hotel you definitely get what you pay for and I’ll be returning. The hotel is situated in a great place not even a 10min walk from the train station.
